Genestealer cults or genestealers?

I start league tomorrow and I know I'll be facing Marines, 1K sons, and Astra militarum.

 

What builds should I be looking at?

I play genestealer cults and Tyranids( all genestealers).

I don't even know the difference between both teams but afaik all genestealers is not the best team you could go with for either of them so just go with what you like best?

Depends on if you want to be able to shoot back? Running just genestealers at marines, 1k sons and IG is not going to be very fun I think! :D

Of the two teams, my personal preference is GSC, due to being able to have some purestrain genestealers to use as a distraction while you can run your team up, I like to pack as much heavy mining equipment as I can, rock cutter, buzzsaw, drill, seismic and mining laser.

 

For serious cutting down marines go the rock cutter, it just devastates them.

If you haven't checked them out, Beeranid 40k does some pretty good work for Genestealer cults and Tyranids on Youtube. 

 

In this video, he's specifically looking at the Writhing Shadow box, where he discusses his recommendations to turn it into a full, reasonably competitive (or at least more so than the build the box recommends) Kill Team. Near the end he discusses whether you're best taking full Stealer Teams as GSC or Nids. Definitely worth a watch in my opinion.
