Thanks!

A bit of progress on a couple of other buildings.

Warehouse with loading bay. It is modular: 6 parts including the two levels of the central tower. And it has a twin building as well :biggrin.:

A bit tired of painting Zandri Dust, I switched to painting Khorne Red for these two industrial buildings.

Still plenty to do :biggrin.:

That is very niche within a niche already. But yeah, imagine a planet with many atolls and a combined waterborne and airborne assault on a fortified atoll, Iwo Jima-style. Or patrol gunboats, Vietnam-style.

More progress today, not initially AT size but I'll definitely use them in AT because huge statues are so iconic, I painted a couple of Sector Imperialis Basilicanum and Sanctum statues. Nothing too fancy here: a sprayed basecoat of Chaos Black, then Abaddon Black brush painted to cover the spots I missed, Mechanicus Standard Grey heavy drybrush, a wash of Nuln oil then a drybrush of Dawnstone and then Retributor Armour to pick some details. Agrax Eartshade wash inbound.

Thanks guys!

Looks cool, will you top that with another sculpture or a spire?

I can add a spire, a roof, a small statue (Sector Imperialis Sanctum size) or a large one (Sector Imperialis Basilicanum size) if I remove the last level and put it directly on top of the octogonal building.

A few more pics, still a few details to add.

Now, ideally I should have drybrushed the whole thing before painting the gold … I think I'll skip the Ushabti Bone drybrush step on this one.

That is so excellent except the staircase on the roof. I'm terrified of heights and that gives me the willies.

Thanks! The staircases could probably be done better. I never thought someone would be terrified by this building. I tend to be scared of heights too, especially when there is a lack of protection. I need to find some railings to finish some of the terraces.

Here are a couple of buildings that are in status "done"

Two hexagonal towers, mixing civitas imperialis elements with foamboard, cardboard, plasticard and Cities of Death bits.

gallery_116407_14938_33129.jpg

gallery_116407_14938_3583.jpg

The same where I added one of the hexagonal roofs from the spires box. I might glue it in place or not, let me know what you think works best.

gallery_116407_14938_18153.jpg

More roofs

gallery_116407_14938_15605.jpg

More hexagonal towers, from the spires box

gallery_116407_14938_20660.jpg

gallery_116407_14938_11362.jpg

A little "basic" civitas imperialis building

gallery_116407_14938_18259.jpg

My first attempt at the upper part of the drawbridge element for the fortress. I messed up with measurements so I turned this one into a standalone building. I should ideally add railings to finish the terraces. One of the few "small" buildings that present significant asymmetries.

gallery_116407_14938_27060.jpg

gallery_116407_14938_22890.jpg

Back to the spires box, octogonal buildings this time

gallery_116407_14938_11371.jpg

gallery_116407_14938_9941.jpg

The following two use components from the manufactorum kit as roofs and are topped with Dark Angels icons, which are perfect for statues at AT scale. One of my "criticism" regarding the spires box is the lack of octogonal roofs, hence my use of these elements. I haven't done octogonal roofs for these buildings yet, another item on my to-do list.

Back to work-in-progress stuff with two industrial buildings where I am making good progress

The "generatorium"

and an Adeptus Mechanicus building

More to follow ...

I pledged for Administratum Tasks - Task 3 Prefect, 3 boxes of scenery or more. I think that in terms of quantities my pledge will be covered, now I just need to finish painting … :biggrin.:

As always feedback is welcome.

Wow, there's still more?  :blink.:   If you're looking for easy railings then model railroad ladders cut down the center would probably be the easiest source.  And yes, I get the willies even from pictures of heights, people would send me pics of those crazy Aztec staircases on the sides of mountains or people freeclimbing those radio towers just for fun :pinch:

That generator building looks awesome, I was going to turn to those things sideways like that as scatter terrain but I hadn't thought of adding them to building structures like that.

I'd say without the ice cream cone

Could we have a pic of all the stuff thrown together ith a titan for scale?

Yes please

Echo this too - would love to see this Mendi, continues to look great. The different colours for buildings help to to separate them, but the bits you've also done in common help tie them together so nicely, especially with such great builds.

Thanks a lot guys! I am glad you like my stuff. I really enjoy building and mixing various components together.

I you were close and there was no lockdown, I would say yes! for a game :biggrin.:

A complete family picture will be posted at some point.

In the meantime, I put a few more things to status "done". I finished painting some stuff late last night, before going to bed I got a fire alarm warning, thankfully it seemed a false alarm but I'll most likely have to replace one of the system's components … and my wife is scared to have someone come in from the full-of-virus outside world … bad timing … anyway, after a rather short night of sleep, and a couple additional brush strokes, I took pictures of the things I consider finished for the time being. I'll likely revisit some details later and add bases to some of the buildings.

Some buildings

Octogonal buildings from the spires box, the first one topped with an hexagonal roof made of cardboard and surmounted by a Dark Angels icon

Hexagonal buildings from the spires box

gallery_116407_14938_9426.jpg

An hexagonal roof topped with an hexagonal component from the spires box. This is my second design for an hexagonal roof.

gallery_116407_14938_1905.jpg

My first design for an hexagonal roof was simply made of cardboard, then I added L-shaped plasticard to mask the shallow cuts I made to easily fold the cardboard into the desired shape.

gallery_116407_14938_18931.jpg

The same topped with one of the hexagonal components from the spires box.

gallery_116407_14938_20141.jpg

My first hexagonal building. I like the shape but it eats fast into your supply of civitas imperialis tiles.

gallery_116407_14938_27968.jpg

gallery_116407_14938_22219.jpg

Another hexagonal building, I made 2 of these, with hexagonal roof

gallery_116407_14938_11528.jpg

I used two of the roof tiles as walls, the other one is on the next face on the left (not shown in the picture)

gallery_116407_14938_29228.jpg

Next to a Warlord. I like the added height achieved by combining the spires elements with cardboard.

gallery_116407_14938_55589.jpg

Another rooftop, again combining cardboard with one of the hexagonal building and roof from the spires box.

A shot of the "painting station" aka dining table in the morning :biggrin.:

And the mountain fortress, to status "done". After the lockdown ends and we are back to a more normal situation, a base will likely be added, it will be easier to move, it is still in 3 parts at the moment :biggrin.:

At the start, I just wanted to build a set of stairs climbing next to a small cliff …

I hope you enjoy this "small" piece of scenery as much as I do :biggrin.:
