Refresh my memory on sororitas-ministorum interaction

Gday all and welcome back.

Ive got a tournament (local) coming up and im plagued with the inability to choose what list to play. Im mostly focused on fielding a lot of my painted models to showcase the girls and am not obsessed with winning as i know theres going to be a lot of waac there so basically wanna have the sexiest army. That said i still want it to check the boxes.

One list i have in mind is a witch hunters list (sororitas, assassins, hereticus and ministorum) but lists are restricted to a max of 3 detachments, so id need to combine ministorum with sororitas.

Correct me if im wrong, but slapping the ministorum with the sisters makes the sisters lose access to their relic and stratagems and obsec does it not? I dont want to lose those as even though i want sexiest army, i dont intend to be a doormat.

yup, puting the Ministorum keyword anywhere in a detachment with SoB will override <Order> being the most common keyword across all units and thus restrict you from using the relic, the stratagems and obsec.

however you only need a single pure SoB detachment in the army to grant access across all detachments. So if you can squeeze nothing but girls into an outrider or vanguard ect... the rest can be pure Ministorum and you'd still get the benefits from SoB detachments.

That is a pain in the bum. Now just to decide whether i go with the list that has ministorum vanguard with cannoness, priest and 2 squads of arcos. Or the inquisition supreme with karamazov, greyfax and hereticus.

I like the inq for the awesome psychic denial coupled with sisters strat. But i like the bodies that come from the ministorum bit...both option are already fully painted...

erm....what.???  not sure I understand what your saying here.....

Sisters natively have the Ministrotum keyword so even if you only have sisters you have a ministorum formation...so you would need to have 1 more priest /arcoflagents / crusaders/ death cult /penitnet / Saint unit than you have Sisters of Battle NOT to be an <order> list

Yeah it’s not about majority keyword it’s about the detachment being entirely composed of units with the Adepta Sororitas Keyword. Even 1 Priest makes it a Ministorum detachement, not a Sororitas detachment.

And if you have at least 1 Adepta Sororitas Detachment then you get acces to the CA stratagems, if your Warlord is from a AS Detachmentyou get acces to the Warlord trait in CA. This is my understanding at least.

first one seems stronger, id probably swap out those excorcists for like 2 more melta seraphim squads and put the last points in stuffing a few more wounds around those melta shots. 4 melta shots always in range of celestine strikes me as waaaaaaay more cost effective than D6 shots at d3 dmg with terrain possibly in the way. Just my personal preference though, not like D6 S8 shots at 48" is bad, just not as versatile I think as 4 melta's that can always move minimum 12" ignoring terrain with the option to use AoF.

I'd also swap the heavy flame and melta in the big squads for a HB and a SB. Since they have to footslog and your only transports have 6 capacity, that means you need 4 to die before you even have the option to cart that flamer and melta closer to things they can hurt.

I'm pretty sure it states in CA that it has to be Sisters not ministorun to get the strategems and warlord trait.

Ok thanks, i'd missed/forgotten that the Strategems  need a pure Sororitas detachment to be accessed.... the warlord trait & relic just need the warlord to be a Soroitas though (just double checked that!)

I like the first list better, although I'm unsure why you have the meltas spread. With the AoF, it's better to have 3x meltas double tapping. Would be an easy fix to make, just swap one of the BSS squads to Doms and put all the meltas together. Also provides some more first turn threat and gets that Immo more forward.

Typically I find mechanicus better than imperialis on the knight. 1cp to count as full bracket or 1cp for 5+ ignore mortals are great strats.

If it's ITC those large Sisters squads become easy pickings for Butcher's Bill (killing PL 7+) units. Almost better to run more small squads than large ones. A clever opponent would do Headhunter, Butcher's Bill (2x large BS, Serpahim, Kramazov or Knight) or Big Game Hunter, and Kingslayer Celestine.

It is ITC. Ive never played it before and its the first time the locals are running it. Ive heard Celestine can bleed points with her twins around which is why i dont have them.

Good point about the large BSS. I went with them in the hopes theyd have more staying power on an objective but i suppose more squads would benefit me with more options.

I have decided to go with the list with the knight in it.

I like spreading my meltas out mostly because i dont like having all my eggs in one basket.

Alrught ive dropp the big squads to squads of 5 and thrown in 2 barebones bss. But im thinking of swapping those out for a squad of inferno seraphim? Only downside to that is it cuts down the bodies i was using to shield the inquisitors.

I wouldn’t worry too much about avoiding giving up secondaries, largely because you really can’t as sisters - haha! :p Most games, both players will max out on them, and it is very difficult to build a Sisters list that isn’t vulnerable to them. You can expect kingslayer on Celestine (or on your knight) and headhunter pretty much every game, and butcher’s bill (kill 2 units) is basically an auto include.

Run exorcists and immolators, and big game hunter is an issue. It’s just rough to build a list that dodges them.

I do like MSU because it makes getting “hold more” easier, and many ITC bonus points come from holding or contesting large numbers of objectives. MSU shines there, and your opponent will often find himself wasting firepower by overkilling smaller units. :)
