Hi brothers!

A Templar here.

I am looking to add some static fire power to my lists, whilst the Templars charge up the board and butcher the Xenos/ traitors!

For some reason i thought that Sternguard in Crimson Fists lists, can secure objectives. However now I can't find it in the codex, so did i imagine this or if not, where can I find it?

Also any advice on the fire support for my Templars would be ace!

Thanks,

JJ

Sternguard holding objectives is from 7th Ed. Back then taking Pedro as an HQ would give them that buff. Unfortunately the ability was lost going to 8th.

As far as firepower, devastators will a Heavy Bolter and cherubs can really dish out mortal wounds for a CP. you only need one, so load up the other heavy weapons with lascannons or missile launchers. Three of those units can put the hurt on a lot of units. That’s usually the configuration for my back line!

I won't say I'm the most optimal player by any means, but there certainly are some units I love that tend to get the job done.

Also, I usually play maelstrom, so keep that in mind.

Having a unit or two of sniper or bolter scouts to grab objectives or speed bump turn one can be great. They also fill out troop slots nicely for cheap.

My tacticals are usually the ones with Anti-Infantry weapons.

A couple stormtalons with Assault cannons and heavy bolters distract some of the enemy's Anti-Armour while still putting a bit of hurt onto MEQs and GEQs. They've gone up in price from what they used to be, but I think there's still value in them.

If you don't mind using FW models, I really can't say enough about the Relic Whrilwind Scorpius. its like an Arminger Helverin, but without needing line of sight!

and of course the Devastators as mentioned in the previous post. I rarely leave home without three squads. typically 4 heavy weapons, Sgt, +2 bolter marines and a cherub. ~175 points per squad.

As you're a templar, i'm sure you can figure out what you like for any counter-assault units!
