2.5k IF Primarchs Chosen

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I'm back! And I'm not alone. Took a long over do vacation. The trip went to England, near Nottingham so of course I stopped at Warhammer World and picked up my Primarch. Rogal Dorn. He's built. Painted with ALL my skill. So now it's time to stick him in a list!

In true sons of Dorn fashion the plan is simple, yet hopefully solid. Although comments and suggestions are always welcome and encouraged!

The Predators and Heavy Weapon teams hang in the back, moving only as needed. Their main targets are Vehicles and Elites.

The Vet Tacs, cruise in Rhino's, claiming objectives and burying other infantry in saves from bolter fire. In a nut shell: what tacs do.

The Contemptor engages anything smaller then it.

Dorn and his' Huscarls ride in style in my only Land Raider. Their job is to protect Dorn and punch what he punches. Thought about giving them Storm Shields (and that is very mean >) ) but the bolters were cheaper, and a few extra bolt shots before a charge never hurt. Plus do they need shields when their ride is a Land Raider?

The LR it self, hunts the heavier vehicles/elites.

All that hits 2,500 exactly. Again comments welcome. Always looking to trim any possible fat.

Just the first point I'm seeing dorn and hurscals take 12 capacity a phobos in the heresey only holds 10 iirc.

I would have 100% given his huscarls shields. Land raiders die and other melee units hit really hard. Also lighting claws and maul just seem like a really wanted loadout to me I would recommend fists/chainfist. Vs any real combat unit you are going to want high str and ap2 firedrakes/butchers/justaerin/sekhmet/suzerain/gal vorbak(weird exception where they dont do much worse regardless of weapon)/mechanicum melee bots/custodes.

Veterans are good but I think you want to specialize them more with the loss of marksmen regular bolter veterans are basically a fancy pricey tac squad.

Your contemptor if you can I would make a mortis with dual kheres it's cheaper and gets you the anti flier that you have none of.

Missile squads are fine they arent super resilient or cheap and mathematically worse than quad mortars but your are fists and support squads are your thing and with your tank hunters bonus maybe they can edge out but it's still 5v8 shots at a higher price. Shatter shells mortars are a bit cheesy (not phosphex level though) but also very fluffy for fists.

Predators I like I dont know if you really need a command tank it's quite pricey an upgrade otherwise they are some decent ish anti tank I prefer laser vindicators but these are a fair choice.

Mainly I just wonder if your veterans should be tactical squads you save like 40 points a squad upgrade change to a different row and run a centurion of some sort maybe with dorn in place of 1 hurscal (use the same model maybe even?).

On the Huscarls apparently I can't count. They would all fit in a Spartan. But sadly I don't have one. So looks like I'm dropping one and giving them all Shields and Fists.

As for the suggestion of giving the Vet Tacs more focus I'm inclined to agree. Looking my models over again I had forgotten that I had modeled them with plasma guns for just such a purpose. Now they have a few more targets they threaten. But mostly tough infantry.

Also found my Rapiers. Alot of my Heresy models are coming out storage. Had to put a few away during some renovations. So those gloriously evil, evil things are back in the list.

My meta doesnt usually run flyers but cheaper is cheaper, and more guns. Although running it as double Lascannon would allow it to engage more targets. Possible I have the bits....

Also relooked at Squadron Command Tank. Missed that you have to be within 24 inches. So dropped that and PoTMS along with 1 missile team to make room for the Rapier.

All that now means I'm left with 35 points to spend. But on what?
