Mixed Kill Teams - marines and guard

Y’all - I haven’t played a game of 40k for a very long time (cost and time being the main reasons), but have tried to stay up to date with fluff etc.

In my head, I have a KT that has one or two Marines and then a series of humans (likely represented by Guardsmen) that are supporting them. Is this possible at the moment, or am I going to have to build it and hope that people will be willing to play against it.

I’ve no real desire to shell out on KT rules and models only to find out that my head-cannon is completely invalid on the table top...

Thanks. Is there a way I can use that list but represent the models with loyalists?

You can always do a "counts as". However I don't know the people you would be gaming with so better make sure that's okay with them first because people might expect specific loadouts and Tactic getting used Marines/Guardsmen have access to but Chaos Marines/Cultists don't and vice versa.

If done well, I don't know many people who would have an issue with this.  Especially playing KT with your friends or LGS.  Part of the fun of KT is the ability to make each member unique.

Another idea is to play Marines, and use the scout rules to count as scions.  But the chaos idea will probably work better.

It's a pity that not many people play Open games, that are fun to play. At our local gaming club we play Open, the house rules are that the team members must share a keyword, unless both agree that anything goes for making up a kill team.

While this makes imperium team very strong and Eldar pretty good, it still makes for a good fun game.

But for a good laugh and really fun game, making a kill team from any faction is just a fun filled night.
