You may find they benefit from a little bit of a dark wash in the recesses - agrax earthshade or nuln oil or whatever it's called these days. They especially work on orks, because our models have deep recesses, and can look dirty without looking bad. A simple wash in Agrax will do wonders.If you'd like, an easy way to add chipping to painted metal parts, like the parts you have painted red, is to take a sponge and lightly sponge some silver, metal paint. Don't even stress. lol I don't lnow how long you've been painting but I can say that taking pictures of your models can be an excellent tool for getting better. it's worked wonders for me over the years If your willing to go the distance on your models, from what you've posted above, I am sure you will have excellent models in not time at all. Lucio Posted October 20, 2018 Share Posted October 20, 2018 Washes need care as much as any other painting technique Applied all over they can unify a model's colours, but make no mistake they change the colour unless carefully applied to the recesses. Personally, for Ork, I use Camoshade the most (for flesh), Nuln Oil for metals and Sepia for leathers. Zebulon Posted November 4, 2018 Author Share Posted November 4, 2018 Updates incoming soon, but it seems like everyone is jumping on the Ork bandwagon at the moment - went in my local GW looking for a trukk - everything Orky was gone except for a battle wagon, some gretchin and one lootas/burnas box! All the new buggies in stock were gone yesterday, along with everything else! Anyway, I now have a battlewagon which I will reward myself painting when all my individual orks are done. I find that I still have five torsos from my second Boyz box which I would happily use, but my usual preferred bitz provider is all out of Ork legs. Does anyone have any recommendations on bitz sites that usually have Ork legs available? I do like to maximise use of my boxes... Never mind guys, they came back in stock. Battlewagon also coming together quickly. I am considering keeping one of the pairs of wheels for kustom projects. After all, half-tracks don’t really need two pairs of wheels... Akrim Posted November 23, 2018 Share Posted November 23, 2018 In my adventures with Agrax shade ive learned its usually a good idea to add a dab of water to it (3:1 or 4:1 shade/water ratio). Also noticed that the bottom of a pot that has been open a while tends to get fair thick toward the end. If it looks syrupy increase the water. My hope/intent is to try to make three vehicles out of these, plus the spare pair of wheels from my battlewagon, plus some bits of sprue and a spare munitorum container.
