Plog: Kabal of the Poisoned Talon

So I know nothing about the Drukhari but I think they look so cool if a little bit crazy! I thought I'd start a plog after picking up a few bits over the last few weeks.

First things first. I swapped a redemptor dread and a box of aggressors for two razorwings on some trading page on facebook. They were already assembled but need priming and painting. I also have the Drukhari kill team box that I'll assemble and put in here too when I get round to it. I've called my Kabal the Kabal of the Poisoned Talon. I'd like to say I came up with it in a brainstorming session but I found a Kabal name generator online and thought that sounded cool.

I'm going with a two tone colour scheme of purple and green with these. I ordered some chameleon paint from greenstuff world so just waiting on it to turn up.

So far the Razorwings are built and on their stands. Going to prime them tomorrow after I've been to GW to pick up some bits.

A good start, don't forget that you can't really make an army just from flyers so I'd recommend some infantry next ;) Colour scheme sounds good, I reckon it'll look nice on the larger canvas of the jets. Have you considered some fancy patterns on top?

Just in case, GW won't be doing swaps without receipts any more which is fair enough so if any more swaps are on the horizon keep that in mind :)

So the Greenstuff world paint turned up quicker than I anticipated and I've got to work with using it. Only one coat done on each razorwing so far and it's quite hard to see in the photos but I'll let you be the judges of it. It's a great paint and didn't even need thinning down which is a bonus!

Thanks WarriorFish! It was quite hard getting the colour to come out in the photos, I tried so many angles. I’ve not thought about other colours yet. I want to get the second basecoat done tomorrow when I get home from work. Great thing about this paint is I think it’s already thinned down! I did think about caliban green for an edge highlight but I’m not sure that’d work.

I'm not sure Caliban Green would work either, might be one to ask in the Forge for some expert help? :tu:

Lighting is key for photos, with good enough light my potato camera can even pick up some decent detail sometimes. A daylight bulb goes a long way here especially as we approach GMT for winter, it also makes evening painting a lot more viable too :)

Yep I use a daylight bulb as my main light in my painting room and I think I need a desktop lamp with a daylight bulb too.

I have to agree about caliban green as well mate after thinking about it. Might have to do a purple highlight but not sure. What do you reckon for the recesses as well?

After playing around with Chameleon paints myself I came to the conclusion that they would look wonderful on Drukhari/Dark Eldar vehicles. It looks like you beat me to it. They look awesome. I agree that it's really hard to get the colourshift colour to show properly in photos. It looks greenish to me from those pictures. Have you considered highlighting the model using silver colours before you do the colourshift stage? I don't know if it would work but it might make the edge highlights stand out? failing that, just doing silver edge highlights afterwards might work okay. I'm got an Imperial Knight in Evil Forest and I'm also trying to decide how to paint highlights on it.

Sadly I sold all my drukhari mate as I needed some money at the time.
