Watchers of Death =][= Gederas' Deathwatch

Afternoon all!

I've been slowly working away at a small (soon to no longer be) force of Deathwatch for Kill Team.... Which then expanded into proper 40k (just like GamesWorkshop probably planned.... :laugh.:)

So.... I suppose I should post what I have then?

Hellblaster Ramiel of the Dark Angels (originally made for Inquisitor28/Inquisimunda and the first Deathwatch model I made, technically):

As-of-Yet Unnamed Apothecary (will be of the Red Scorpions):

And with the updated Ramiel:

Raptor with Stalker-Pattern Boltgun:

Kill Team 1 (Fire Lord, the Raptor, Metamarines, Flesh Tearers, Blackshield):

As of these pictures, the other 5 Kill Marines from the Start Collecting, Artemis and the Dreadnought have been assembled and primed. I've also got Kill-Team Cassius assembled and primed (in sub-assemblied)

Now, that's the old. Here's the new:

Primaris Watch Master (will be an Emperor's Spear):

Blood Angel Sergeant (more for Inq28 as he's not exactly WYSIWYG):

Comms Specialist Marcus Dexsius for Kill Team - Ultramarines [idea for the backpack shamelessly stolen from thewarriorhunter]:

SGT Antoni looks promising, but the green runes on his sword... Is it a C'tan phase blade?

No, that's Xenophase blade from DW sprue (and IMO, it's frankly stupid only DW unit that can take it is KT, all other Primaris included should be able to take it too...).

I'm 99% positive that the Xenophase blade and the C'tan Phase sword are the same thing or similar. Definitely both of Necrons origin.

While it's certainly implied to be, it's weird Callidus weapons are plainly called C'tan phase swords, leaving no ambiguity, while DW ones are merely 'xeno' phase weapons. Maybe it was done to increase creativity of the conversions? [insert canned laughter here] Also, funnily enough, while assassin sword kept old necron 'no ++ saves' rule, the necron weapons themselves IIRC did not and DW xenophase blade has different, weaker phasing mechanic further confusing matters. You'd think if the DW weapons were the real deal DW techmarines wouldn't do worse job plugging the batteries into the sword than Assasinorum technicians...

Xenophase Blade, C'tan Phase Blade.... They're the same thing, one just happens to be looted by Imperials :laugh.:

But yes, Sergeant Antoni is wielding a Xenophase Blade and an Inferno Pistol. Not things Primaris can wield (yet), but they're fine for True-Scale Marines in Inquisitor28

Now, this one isn't a Truescale Marine, but he is important:

This is the start of Captain Marez of the Crimson Fists, named after a friend who got me into 40k:

I need to get a better Imperial/Crimson Fists shoulder pad for him, because the one from the Deathwatch box isn't ostentatious enough. Said pad will be donated from Rodicus Grytt from Kill Team Cassius once I get my second one for conversion bits.

Marez will be the first member of a group of Primaris (True-Scale) Marines who represent people from my FLGS. As of right now I have him, a Raven Guard, Iron Hand and Salamander in the works.

Small suggestion, if you have GW store nearby they sell CF captain pads, IIRC there wasn't better CF ever made by GW:

Iirc, those older Finecast pads are smaller than current ones.

Plus: Rodicus Grytt's pad is simple, yet elegant and clearly not the average line-Brother's pad:

Plus, the braiding on his shoulder would keeps to the Store Anniversary Captain's aesthetic.

Also, speaking of Store Anniversary:

:biggrin.:

New Sergeant is incoming (and what will be used as a Pathfinder miniature :laugh.:)

Another day, another set of WIPs

Got the 500th Store LT as a Battle Brother (also, sculpting the Flesh Eaters' chapter badge is very difficult), a Salamander, SNEAKY BEAKIE and Iron Hand started:

And close-ups of the Raven Guard Primaris/True-scale Mark VI:
PX0fP8d.jpg

Man, he looks like :cuss right now before the primer

And the Iron Hand:
dxRQfq5.jpg

Getting Artemis' bionic arm to go onto a Primaris' body was annoying to say the least due to where the arm is split. I'm also unsure on if I want to give him a bionic leg or not. As is, both his arms and half his face are bionic.

And the Salamander is headless not because he's cosplaying Ferrus Manus, but because I needed to sculpt some hair for him, as he's one of the ones based on people from my FLGS.

Apologies for the fuzziness, my camera was refusing to focus on the head...

Thanks brother!

Thats a shame, they could have added the lenses and some gubbins in there.

All the helmet gubbins are on his head, and the lenses are behind his fingers.

Speaking of his head, esteemed Battle-Brother Lecter of the Flesh Eaters is ready for his close-up:

And once again: I apologize for the picture seeming wonky. I don't know why my camera REFUSES to focus on marine heads by themselves

Aside from a touch-up on the barrel of his bolt rifle (and highlights on the gun casing), the 500th Store Limited Edition Primaris marine is done.

Meet Brother Lektor, Flesh Eater Primaris Veteran of the Devastation of Baal and member of the Deathwatch.

I'm really quite happy how the Chapter Badge came out. First time I've free-handed a chapter badge since my FIRST 40k model.

Also, somewhat amusing: The first two Primaris Deathwatch I've made are a Blood Angel and a Blood Angel successor.

Man, I seem to just can't stop painting red

Awesome work!  Love the personalized details and use of edge highlighting to bring said details out.  Can't wait to see more! :smile.:

Thanks!

I enjoy painting them, as their highlighting isn't too hard to do. Just Dark Reaper and Fenrisian Grey for the armour. I don't even feel a need for highlighting the metallics, 'cause well.... The difference between Ironbreaker and Stormhost Silver is very, very slight :laugh.:

That being said, the Watch will likely be slightly slow, as right now I've got.... 6 and 1/4 models left to paint for the Call of Chaos :laugh.:

EDIT!

I just remembered, I'll be ordering this bad boy next week, but I'm not sure on the Plasma Cannon it comes with stock.

99590101323_MINOTAURSCONTEMPTORDREADNOUG

Anyone have recommendations? I'm thinking of possible getting a Kheres Assault Cannon to use instead (though the gun arm will be magnetized).

Additionally: Got the email last night during work. The Minotaur and Shark will be arriving on Wednesday. BOOYAH! :laugh.:

Looking forward to seeing them in DW colours :biggrin.:

As am I :laugh.:

In other news: My other local GW (because both of them are around 20 minutes from where I live :laugh.:) had a box game I was not expecting. Hopefully it's still there next week.

What box game?

A9s93Pj.jpg

YUP! DEATHWATCH: OVERKILL

I saw that and immediately thought "I need this. If I get it right now though, I'll go into overdraft." :laugh.:

However, I have something to show. My Sergeant for my melee Fortis Kill Team and also the Sergeant for the GAME Kill Team. He's based on the person who got me my Dark Angels army (funny story that. Essentially, he got AdMech, didn't like them, then traded to Joe [ie: Brother-Captain Marez up a few] for Imperial Guard, and then traded the Imperial Guard for the Dark Angels of Joe's brother. Unbeknownst to me, he never intended on keeping the Dark Angels, as he didn't have the space, time or money for 40k. So I got a 3.5k or so army of Dark Angels completely by accident :laugh.:)

Say hello to brother Darren of the Guardians of the Covenant:

jHVe1qL.jpgcdSj2Gu.jpg

I just need to decide if I want to use Shapeways for the pad, or freehand it (personally leaning more towards the former).
