Inquisitor Red Posted October 24, 2018 Share Posted October 24, 2018 Hey guys, So I'm about to turn to the dark side and had a few questions about the army. 1. Color and Theme: If I ran Kabal of the Blackheart army but my army was painted in all white. Would this be sacrilegious to my fellow Drukhari brethren? I just don't want a "I play Ultramarimes that are painted Blood Angles Red" scenario. 2. Is the x3 patrol detachments mixed with Kabals, Wych Cult, and Covens worth it? Or is sticking to just two Battalions of any combination the way everyone is going? 3. I'm thinking about converting the Daughters of Khaine models into Wyches. Besides buying the Wyches box is there any good kit that comes with pistols bitz, etc? https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Daughters-Of-Khaine-Witch-Aelves-2018 4. Any tips for all the super thin edge highlights on all the armor? I'm thinking about finding some super thin micron pens or something to pull it off. Thanks in advance guys! WarriorFish Posted October 25, 2018 Share Posted October 25, 2018 The "Dark" part doesn't preclude other colours - mine are a bone colour and I've seen some really nice white and off white DE so don't let any notions dissuade you I've yet to get any experience with my DE in 8th (or that much in general), but from what I know and have heard I don't think the patrol mix is amazing. Good for getting slices of different pies if that's what you're after but if you're mostly focusing on one "type" of army you're probably better off with a Battalion. I'm sure others can give more detailed help here The fantasy range does have some good models that could be used for Wyches, but aside from pistols they have other fairly unique weapons and I'm not sure how easy they'll be to source short of bits sites (which will be pricey). Don't forget they need suitable 40k-ification to fit your army better (and the B&C's rules ). Last but not least DE are pretty pointy with lots of raised edges. Washing and/or dry brushing work well on these so you can get a nice look and some depth without getting too fancy Don't forget to post up pictures when you have them Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rhivan Posted October 31, 2018 Share Posted October 31, 2018 1.) Dark Eldar players are notorious for being converters and coming up with custom kabals and using whatever rules fits them best. Nobody will complain. 2.) Generally the the duel battalion is the way to go if you wanna go pure Dark Eldar. It's usually Kabal + melee subfaction of some sort. Personally I favor Coven :D 3.) Daughters of Khaine are a lovely choice for Wyches! As for alternative kits for the pistols etc. Not really. The Wych kit is the best source of them. (But with how interchangable Dark Eldar are you can always use the rest of the bodies and weapons for something else to convert up with. If not you can always sell them) 4.)
