Waaagh! Grimdakka - Gederas' Orks

Hello all! Please allow me to introduce myself I'm a man of wealth and taste

OI!

-clears throat-

Okay, now that the silliness is done, you've probably seen the beginnings of my Waaaagh in my general WIP thread. Well, this is the start of the PROPPA Orky WIP thread.

Orcs have always been one of my favorite fantasy races, and the ones in 40k take what I find awesome about orcs and adds a healthy dose of Mad Max. That's going to be very important, because this is the start of Speed Freeks army first and foremost.

However, it's not solely Evil Sunz. This army will be lead by three Big Bosses, Zapwazza Grimdakka 'da Skorchmasta' (Evil Sunz, overall boss), Anzagg Nazgrim 'Manyteef' (Bad Moons, not named after the WoW character :laugh.:. Brings the teef and Dakka. And you'll see why he has hos sobriquet when the model I needed for him comes in tomorrow....) and Wirgoz Studskragga (Deathskulls Mekboss, the brains of the operation).

All three of these bosses will be heavily converted. And big. Very, very big

Now, I suppose I should show some of the models then yes?

Some Nobs:

Flash Gits (likely going to be Bad Moons, possibly not Freebooters):

Burnas and a Spanner:

The start of Mekboss Studskragga's recovery vehicle (a Battlewagon of some sort, based on the War Rig from Fury Road):

And finally, the newest vehicle being added to the Orks stable of Trukks:

Yes, that's Christine (1958 Plymouth Fury) being looted. That model kit is a PAIN because of how it goes together. The hardest part will be the final assembly once she's all painted. That and finding a way to get a driver in it :laugh.:

Nice! I'm always excited to see another Warboss in these stomping grounds. You've got some ambition about you, and I look forward to seeing what you produce.

Thanks! And trust me, I hope to produce some good stuff.

Oops - mispost

Aaw, had me excited there Kierdale

Speaking of stuff, right or left?

Glad to see you’ve gone green too, Gederas!

I can’t wait to see your war-rig! :biggrin.:

I've always been green, people just didn't know it because I've only just now decided to start the Orks

Dear god, is that klaw off a DEFILER?

EDIT: Also left looks more natural and menacing.

Well, technically yes, but I got it from my Soul Grinder, since that kit comes with an extra Defiler claw. But yes. It's a Defiler's claw.

And left? The one up in the air?

Quick update:

Started cleaning up the Throgg model I'm going to use as the basis for Warboss Manyteef. It's good I got two, as one of them had some severe bubbling in parts. That's the one I'm using for the Warboss, as most of those bubbles, gaps and stuff will be covered up by Mega Armour. And the cleaning is also removing all of the obvious Trollish aspects and Chaotic corruption of the base model.

.... I'm keeping his face mostly as-is though. I'll just be bulking it out a bit more with greenstuff to fix some of the results of having to cut off the beard.

I also did a quick mock-up with the Power Klaw.

.... Man that looks goofy without any armour on him

As to why he's called Manyteef....

Now THAT is an appropriate sized Power-Klaw for a Warboss!!

Nice work :smile.:

Thanks!

Did a bit more work on Warboss Nazgrim's face and body. I need to do a little greenstuff at a time, especially with the larger areas:

I mean, I have to get his skin all done before I worry about his mega armour

-blows the dust off the thread-

Well, this has certainly been a gap in posts. But, having thought on it, I've decided to retool my Orks entirely. Still though, that Throggboss? He's in the works still. I've actually just finished the head:

Keeping the nose because:
1: I'm afraid of messing up the face

2: I don't have the tools to carve out nostrils for him.

3: A friend gave me a hilariously Orky reason WHY he has a nose like a Grot.

I'm also splitting a box next month with a friend of Kastelan Robots. Because I found my two spare Contemptor feet, and I realized the Kastelan robot legs are perfectly-sized to make the Warboss' Mega-Armoured legs.

Went to Michael's today to pick up more black and grey primer so I can start priming my un-primed orks. Found two model kits.

The first is a Revell 1:25 '83 Hurst Oldsmobile the second is a Revell 1:48 A-10 Warthog. So basically, I got a Trukk and Dakkajet for my Mad Meks.

Of course, I've started kitbashing the second one.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRT

That looks amazing! I have to wonder though, if it fires all of the dakka, will it fly backwards? :biggrin.:

Thanks! And, probably! Because, you have to remember: when the A-10 fires it's main gun, the recoil causes the engines to stall if fired for more than a few seconds.

I think the hard part for me will be bulking out the front, and filling in the gaps on the panels where I had to cut into the fuselage. I foresee a lot of plasticard being used here

Nice, you have some cool stuff in there mate. :smile.: Love the Nobz, always like them - very Goffy in character and big.. We like that!

And the A-10 Dakkajet is great.

Thanks! I had kind of trailed off with Orks (mainly because I had other projects to work on), and I'm still not super set on them. I will be working on the Tigerwagon more though. So keep your eyes peeled for it

Ah really? Oh - I can always have fun with Orks! Such a good relief.. Might need to paint something else now and then - but Orks always makes me happy..

Looking forward to more of that Tigger-tank!

Working on models in general makes me happy :laugh.:

The main reason why I'm having issues: I'm unsure what colour scheme to go for my orks, which is what the problem is.

Also, you're looking forward to more of the Tigerwagon? Good, because I finished magnetizing the ever-living crap out of it at almost 1AM last night

Also, you know what sucks? Not having the right diameter drill bit for a magnet and having to use a smaller drill bit to widen the hole to get the thing to fit :laugh.: (it was for the main gun, the magnets I used everywhere else on the tank were too small to keep the barrels from drooping/falling off from their own weight)

Same here, love modelling - struggle to come up with great paint schemes..

The Tigger looks good! The Ork Commander is great! :biggrin.:

Yeah. Thankfully, one of the people at the local GW gave me an idea: Afrika Korps.

So I think I'm gonna paint all my Ork vehicles in mostly that colour-scheme, with black and metal plates as accents (because I still want this to be a Mad Max-ish army).

And I know, right? Kromlech Orks are so full of character, even more than the GW ones (which is saying something)
