Alright, so this is my first attempt using Flickr after photobucket dropped the ball. So bear with me on the photos

Okay, so, I'm a long time DA player,

And by neither and I are headed to LVO. We decided to spice things up by building and painting brand new armies. He went with dark elgar, I rolled DG. So, I've posted pictures and was wondering on what basing style/ color would compliment the models.

So, I've read a few tactics posts, but would like some suggestions for what I'd like to bring, and how I could improve it.

Now, on to my tentative list.

Demon prince with suppurating plate + axe

Typhus

Pox walkers x20

Cultist x10

Cultist x10

9 plague marines 6 bolters, 3 plasma

20 plague marines p fist, x2 blight launcher, x4 flail

Biologus purifier

Foul blightspawn

Tallyman

X2 foetid blight drone

X2 plague burst crawler

Looking for early mid field hold, and using pox walkers and stategem to get the 20 man plague bros into combat.

Could it be mildly effective? I know it's not the most competitive, but, will it at least put me in the fight?

The list :

Mostly ok.

Its hard to give advice so close to CA, lots may change!

That said : poxwalkers are kinda trash right now, what they do well cultist do for cheaper and plaguebearers do better. By extention Typhus is not worth it, better take a second DP.

I suggest you take only one squad of plague marine and Use cloud of fly so they cannot be targeted. Also they cannot have 4 flails, unless I missed something they are limited to 2/ squads.

Blightspawn are good, the others are not terrible. Never take so many characters. They do not fill HQ tax slots and do little by themselves. Boys before toys, and they are expensive toys. Replace typhus for a chaos lord and remove the tallyman. Then its a choice between Biologus and Blightbringer.

If you are open to daemon allies, Nurglings are the best troop in the game. I always have a pocket daemon battalion of 3x nurglings + DP / poxbringer. Or 2x poxbringer if you're tight on points.

Drones and crawlers are the best unit in the codex, load up on them.

Never take any troop that does not give you command point. CP are your blood and you need it to fight.

Basing:

The "standard" deathguard base are Stirland Battlemire or equivalent to create a muddy battlefield with pools of Nurgle rot.

Duncan has a tutorial for that on the WH youtube channel.

Otherwise, pick a complimentary color to your army and go from there.

Do not forget to show us pic of your models!

I brush clear Elmer's glue onto my bases and then liberally apply flock, knocking off the excess that doesn't stick and saving it for later. I like the swamp flavor from gale force 9. Quick and effective.

Black Triton, thanks for the insight on tallyman. I knew typhus/walkers werent the best pick, but I was hoping his psychic and CC strength would keep him viable. But losing the tally man, Walkers and typhus for a lord saves so many points. Thanks for that insight.

I suppose now I'll need that second detachment for CP.

I thought I posted a link to flickr. I'll try bucket again.

I imagine it's tough to give basing ideas without seeing the models :p

Hey, thanks for the link, I was having trouble finding it.  I think I'll use that with a mix of stone tiles.  Modeled like they're on the outskirts of a fortress Monastery attacking the first legion.

I'm a little color blind and would like to hear yalls input on a color choice for the plasma go.  I was thinking of trying source lighting even since that pale white will reflect the glow brilliantly
