So a while back, I backed a Kickstarter for the Hobby Holder, and I was really happy with it for a month.....then GW released their Paint Handle. The folks behind the Hobby Holder have their own little website and I found this gem on it;

The Wash Wizard

Bought myself 3 of these straight away. There's a few other cool things there too.

Game Envy

Cheers,

Jono

Is it simply to make it harder to tip the bottle over?

Is it simply to make it harder to tip the bottle over?

Yes.

Between the taller pot and terrible lids that GW insist on using, it's a pretty neat idea!

A fantastic idea, the amount of spilled pot posts I've seen these need mass marketing

Brilliant idea. Just ordered 5, and will be telling my local group about them as soon as I can!

Can't say that I've ever tipped over my washes and I'm not exactly not clumsy lol ... tho I know people who have and it's kinda a meme at this point so I guess there are people who can use something like that.

Thanks. All of mine are in the older 'standard' pots so I haven't encounterd the problem.

Holy crap. I knock over and rescue my washes so often I'm sure they have all kinds of fluff and paper in them.

Should probably just superglue large washers to the bottoms or something, but this is neat.

Ha! Recently spilt most of a bottle of Nuln Oil so can totally see the benefit. Not going to pay the $12.50 shipping cost to the UK though, so pass from me.

GWs new paint holders (the Hexes) seem like a good solution too.

Nice idea. If they can get a UK independent store to stock them I'd buy a few

I like the idea of the new GW paint pot holders/paint case too but:

A) I already have paints so i don't see myself forking out for a storage set that is already full

B) I have a lot more paints than it can hold so its far to small anyway.

if GW sell their box in a bigger size and empty i could be tempted.

I genuinely thought that was a 40k fidget spinner for a moment when I clicked on the thread. :D

Nice idea, mine are always falling over especially in my paint box I store them in.

I just use blutac. A small blob on the base wen im setting out my paints is fine.

Similarly i use old paint pots filled with gravel and a blob of blutac on top as a painting handle....dirt cheap!

I picked up the base and wash paints set in the new project box last week, I've barely used the big wash pots before. Good to know they're at risk of toppling! Most of the paints went into my existing paint drawers, so I could try out keeping the washes in a hex stack I got with the box - will let you know how I get on, also being in the UK and not being able to justify shipping on the wash wizard.

Does look like the sort of thing you could make with a pack of sugru though, so that'll be my backup plan.

The project box is definitely too small to keep all your paints in, but I can see it being able to hold your specific paints for your current army scheme, which is where I was thinking of using it - currently, they tend to pile up on my desk until I get round to putting them all back in the racks.

With some syringes (without needles) and some dropper bottles you get a better delivery system and better storage for your paints.

Having lost over half a bottle of Agrax Earthshade a couple years back, I can attest to how useful such a product could be.  This OFC depends on your personal clumsiness :P

Oooh, that would help massively. I'm a clumsy old oaf and pots are not safe in my proximity. My black wash lost half of its contents one fateful evening a few months ago...I had to spend the rest of the evening cleaning up my desk rather than paint. Such a sad story...

Any GW paints I get I transfer into a dropper bottle. Job done.

I do that for airbrush paints, but don't you lose quite a bit with base and layer paints?

You always lose a little bit, but you can swill out the thicker paints with a little water, flow-improver or medium. I turn the pots upside down into a hip flask funnel and let gravity draw it into the dropper bottles.

The amount of paint saved from not spilling and or it drying out because the lid didn't clip down properly far outweighs any cons, in my opinion.

Dropper bottles are the master race of paint pots. Neat idea but I don't need it.

It is so easy to make one (with multi holes) with foam or polystirene...
