How to build a Vexilus Praetor with a weapon

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm not exactly new to 40k, but I've never played a game and have only built as a hobby. I'm now looking into getting into playing and picked up a bunch of Custodes and am in the process of building them now. I noticed that you supposedly can build a Vexilus Praetor from a Custodian Guard box, but am super confused as to how I give him a weapon like a guardian spear considering all the weapons are right handed and he needs one hand free for the banner. The instructions are not helpful in the slightest as they just show how to build one with the banner and a guardian shield.

What am I missing? The list I've made up has one Vexilus Praetor with a Guardian spear but I can't seem to figure out how to build it.

Any insight at all would be of great help. Thanks!

You can't really build a vexilus praetor holding a spear out of the basic custodian guard kit, without doing a bit of converting to swap a spear to the other hand.

The wardens kit lets you build one holding an axe or spear without any trouble.  I think that kit is why they allow them to have the option.

It's very easy, actually, you just swap the spear to the other hand using the kit it comes it, and carefully (using your exacto knife/scalpel) cut away the second hand on the spear shaft. You can barely tell on my Praetor, he looks just fine.

The Warder kit comes with two left handed weapon hafts, so I built two Vexillas from it - one using the Vexilla in the Warder kit, and one using the Vexilla from the base Custodian Guard sprue, and then had a three man unit of Warders.  It worked reasonably well.
