So I've been on a track to get my White Scars built before the end of the year, then onto my Knights and Blood Angels.

First day, getting the Outriders out of the way

That's an impressive start. How do you find the GW bike models to work with and sculpt wise? I've been tempted to pick some up but they're quite old at this stage.

They're fine to work with but each kit has its own benefits and problems:

• SM Bikes - Not the nicest to look at but no details that need to be trimmed or removed, any weapon changes will need arms from other kits
• Attack Bikes - The heavy weapon is fiddly but thats more to do with the arms of the passenger
• Black Knights - A really good kit, purging the DA symbols off can be a chore but I think its worth it and it gives you quite a few bits to work with on other units
• Chaplain and Captian - The metal and plastic combo is a nightmare to stick together but looks good in the end

I've still got to find a way to cover the knee pads on the bikes though and that way may include a copious dose of greenstuff

Some magnetisation on the missile turrets to do and magnetising the sponsons, but those are in the mail

 

The stems on the tracks are havoc to remove without damaging the model

The project was on hold until the release of book 8, after it I'm currently considering if I'll swap legions or will split the force.

 

Either way the assault marines that were previously planned will be becoming something else

Have to say that's an extremely impressive work rate - I collect at 6mm and you're outpacing me ! :D

 

At least it should be straightforward for you to re-purpose to whichever legion you decide to go with (that's assuming you haven't started painting yet?)
