Are you still buying Oldmarines?

Despite having 50+ MkIII and like another 50 MkIV, for some reason yes, because I'm a sucker for my flgs discounts. I also need to buy at least one, maybe a few, boxes of Sanguinary Guard for conversions. GW has a good thing going with me lol

Sold around 8k points of Red Scorpions earlier this year as personally (and yes, other people have opinions) I can't see old marines being around long term. Next years project is a Primaris force when hopefully there'll be some new stuff for them.

To be fair most of us are so long in the tooth that we have many Classic Marine kits awaiting use so I'm very interested in hearing what new players are doing.

In addition the purchasing habits of players after the Detachment releases going forward.

*waves hand* I use Primaris Intercessors and Aggressors and as my line infantry, filling out my troops and dealing with infantry, while I use sternguard and dreadnoughts to cover my flanks and take down heavy infantry and vehicles.

Yep, still buying. Just ordered a counts-as thunderfire cannon from Kromlech, and plan on finishing out my battle company (so, 3 tac squads, 15 devastators, 15 assault marines, and another dreadnought or two, plus transport vehicles). After that, some more armored support for me, and then I'll move onto my primarized version of 2nd company (since it's now proven that marines can be upgraded).

That's likely a long way off though. Several years, if not a decade (the Black Guard have decided they want to march along old allies again, and when my necrons decide they want more things I'm not going to deny them that). I'm not seriously committed to this goal, at least in the sense of getting it done in a timely manner :teehee: .

I do have orders in with FW and Kromlech for resin goodies to keep adding to my SM DIY, most of my current infantry kits were purchased a couple of years previous though. Admittedly, I am starting to transition to building up the non-SM forces of my DIY, but that has more to do with already having 98% of the SM models and units I've wanted. All that's left is making random fluffish squads like a 5 man Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield and Jump packs assault squad, along with the occasional FW goodie (Deredeos and Sicarans are my weakness...)

I will. My only purchases this year were minor and for 30k. But I am not giving up on my goal for doing an entire company of Silver Skulls. So I will need to make a few more purchases to complete that. Also Have my DIY army that I want a couple more things for.

I really don't ever see myself converting to Primaris.

I'm currently 50% done on my Battle Company.

I do eventually want to move onto Veteran Company and feature some terminators as well as Bikers/Speeders from the Reserve company.

So definitely still buying some Oldmarines just to finish off what I set out to do except for the standard dudes as I have enough of power armored marines from MK III to MK VII to form several full companies.

My latest order to arrive had a couple of Devastator Squads and a couple of Command Squads, the latter mainly for parts and Apothecaries. I'm only the "assault" slots off having a full Primaris Company built at this point, barely started on painting, and more stuff coming with Conquest all the time. My main purchases for the Scorpions next year will be old Marines, get a Company built that can be used as a historical Badab force as well as cheap, versitile mechanised units alongside the (now suddenly Veteran) Intercessors. Pretty sure my next big Triplehelix order will just be a bunch of Rhinos to do the construction as a production line effort on a full Company's worth. Oh, also grabbed half a dozen Speeders recently when I found the Revell ones for £8 each. There's going to be a place with me for all flavours of Marine for a good while yet.

No. Good, bad, or indifferent, the age of the Adeptus Astartes is over and the age of the Astartes Primaris is upon us.

While I fully expect to see a few more last gasps (like the Space Marine Heroes models and specialist detachment like the Victrix Guard), and I will keep fielding my Old Marines, my hobby dollars are simply too few to invest in the old models.

Probably going to order up to 3000 points worth of Old Marines in the coming months to finish off my 30K Ultramarines. I know they are likely being phased out but in the 15 + years of collecting 40K I’ve never actually finished a marine army, so I’d like to at least do that before I fully move on to Primaris.

Nope since Primaris dropped. And I sold almost all my old marines , even though I liked their design (MKIII and Black Templars upgrades especially) but they are ridiculously small now in my opinion.

The 30k system is in stand by at the moment since Alan Bligh passed away, and I might give up my 30K Word Bearers army project to focus on 40K (and the future new Chaos Space Marines).

This has been my problem since Primaris dropped last year. I much prefer the design and aesthetics of the older armour marks, but the size difference just gets me and I've lost a lot of motivation with the hobby because of it. The proportions for Primaris are what Marines should look like in my eyes, but I find the armour itself less pleasing to look at than the heresy-era armour.

I've just decided to attempt to upscale and remake of all my 30K infantry using plasticard and greenstuff with the heresy era armour whilst I also work on a 40K DIY Primaris marine chapter. Hopefully running two projects at the same time will stop me getting burnt out just wholly focusing on a single project, but then again it is doomed to failure because I have hobby butterfly syndrome.

Thats going to be a very fulfilling project man. I love my almost Primaris sized Fists.
