Legio Vulturum: Gore Crows

Today I was applying a lot of decals to flags.

 

And applying flags to titans.

 

 

I really dragged my feet over these because I was worried I would do a bad job and waste a load of time (and decals), however I'm glad I did it and that they turned out basic but ok.

Basic or not, they are very nice. Especially with your otherwise almost monochromatic scheme, they bring a nice spot colour in the whole.

I agree - the banners are a really, really nice touch. There more I see them used, the more I think I will be ordering a package from Winterdyne Commissions, so that my own Titans will have even more swag on them!

I'm a big fan of banners on Titans, but like many "decorations," it's generally better to keep them few and simple.

They are printed flags from Winterdyne Commission Modelling. Easy!

They set off the rest of your legio perfectly.  If they weren't traitor, your blog has me wanted to do a similar paint scheme, so I think I'm going to do the Pale Riders, obsidian black with off-white marble, lol

You get rules though. Don't know what they are yet, except the option of maximal fire VMBs... which is an interesting one! Lucius hounds with S8 VMBs could be a threat.

Worst comes to worst, you can slide into Legio Kydianos and swap between the Vulturum and custom rules at your leisure? It is a bit concerning but it would be a real shame to re-do all of this fine work :(

Haven't tried contrast paints yet, but maybe a very thin coat of Skeleton Horde. Anyways, yours still is such an impressive work that doesn't matter some tonal discrepancy with the "official".

A wash of something like Skeleton Horde sounds about right. I'd thin it down at first to be safe. I'm finding that it's a good colour but it's always a bit tricky to get an even coat with contrast paint. Maybe test it on a spare panel first.

Something else you might consider is an oil wash. It will act more like a filter where it's applied, and with how some of the black panels in the new art also look dirty, it could be applied across every panel. Here that is on two different Necron testers via Cult of Paint, here and here. They have a lot of great videos on using oils.

Vallejo's Air series is also great for all your glazing needs, I use their Burnt Umber more than Agrax as my go-to brownifier. Works like a charm for this exact purpose while being translucent enough to show the patterns beneath.

Sherry, can I apply that with a brush?

Yes, I only use brushes myself. The consistency of the Air paints is just a bit more runny, otherwise they behave the same.

Very nice indeed - stick with your intepretation of the scheme, in my opinion. I like the cool marble effect.

To be totally honest I think your white marble looks way better than that art plate, my $.02 but I absolutely envy you.
