ValourousHeart Posted December 7, 2018 Share Posted December 7, 2018 I was hoping Sableclaw, Talonmaster and the Dark Talon would get cheaper. Oh well. The big winner for me is the Typhoon with Heavy Bolter. Used to be 130 and is now 98, 32 points per model. That means that a 5 speeders unit is now less than a 4 speeder unit used to be. TDA always has worth by virtue of looking awesome in a display cabinet! You can also make some good dioramas with them. ... zacret Posted December 7, 2018 Share Posted December 7, 2018 Also note that the Powerfist went down from 12 to 9 points. that means that a DWT is now 34 points instead of 40 points. Factor in the TML dropped to 38 points from 50 this means that a 10 man DWT squad with 2 TML went down 72 points. I had hoped for more than a point reduction tho but it is what it is .. The DWK point reduction tho! Also the Librarian in terminator armor dropped 18 points ! I might just have to try DWT with librarian with master of maneuver now! Sniperriffles down to 2 points from 4! Thats 10 points reduction on a 5 man squad!! woot woot! (i love my sniper squad and now even more!) I always compare them to Inceptor heavy bolter, in the role of coming down, hitting chaff on an objective and forcing a reaction, taking attention away from the frontline. Where they use to be terribly inneficient at that job (even shooting twice) they can now compete. In this scenario, you are trading some speed and hitting power for better armor and melee. All heavy weapon are wasted on them, since you should never stay put with terminator you never make good use of them. On another subject, the point cut on Black Knight has me impressed! they look very good now, so does the biker with chainsword. Ravenwing looks like the real winner this december! Yeah, I'm unfortunately inclined to agree. Those two are great, Belial is probably about to show up a lot more often. I think we may only have a case for Asmodai, and his issues are as much about his rules as they are about points. I do, however, think it's weird that so many BA characters and Codex characters changed without any changes in the DA, SW, or DW codices. I'm not even sure that it's the wrong choice, I just can't quite make sense of what the discrepancy is about.* *Okay, it's actually a pretty indefensible choice for Deathwatch. They only have one named character, and he's so glaringly overcosted for what he brings that I don't why GW expected people to ever field the guy before, let alone now. While I am surprised that all three DW elites didn't see the same minor drops that all Terminators got, the champion is the only one who really confuses me. With the drop pod decrease, it's actually now 9 points cheaper to just put a solo company champion in a drop pod. The DW Champ will still have some bonuses with +1 W, a 2+ save, the D3 attacks against squads of 5+, Deathwing keyword, and an extra -1 AP, which are a little better in close combat than the Company Champion's bolt pistol and grenades. But, well, he's 9 points cheaper even with his own personal drop pod, and I could still put 9 more models in there. One thing that luxurious, personal drop pod doesn't have, of course, is a sweet looking halberd. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I do think, though, that it seems odd since the points decrease is I think tied to the use of the bike, so presumably all bike models would get a discount. Same deal re: TDA models, since the HQ in TDA all got decreases, so a little bizarre that the elite choices didn't get a similar price decrease. Oh well, still lots of good stuff coming out of it. Even with the servitor pts increase that's 40 pts to bring 2x BS 4 Heavy bolters in supports of your Full Servo-harness Techmarine, who went from 92 pts down to a svelt 63...not bad for a single model there!
