As the title suggests, this is my first real attempt at making a Kult of Speed list (or any Ork list, for that matter). This is not meant to be a competitive list. It is meant to be a fluffy means of enjoying the game, while (hopefully) not getting steamrolled on Turn 1. :)

Given that this is still essentially a first draft, I'm not worrying about points yet - though I absolutely plan to use points instead of PLs.

My original plan was compact (or at least not all footsloggers). Although I kind of got carried away, I tried to make my list flexible enough to do anything from just a few bikes to a brigade-sized force.

Also, I was really torn between the perks offered by Evil Sunz and Bad Moonz, so I am incorporating both into my list (plus, their colors work well together).

Ok. Now for the method to the madness.
I don't intend to run all 5 of these Detachments - as listed - simultaneously. Instead, here are several combinations I've come up with

1) Run 1 or more of the specialst/non-Patrol Detachments.

2) Run upto 2 battalions

3) Run a Brigade

Essentially, the function of the two Patrols is to serve as a resource pool, so that I can (if needed) boost the abilities of one (or more) of the specialist Detachments. Alternately, the Patrols can be used to create up to 2 Battalions (1 each E.S. and B.M.)
or a brigade (either Evil Sunz only or Evil Sunz-heavy).

Regarding my Biker Bosses and the Rule of 3, I only foresee that being an issue if I run 2 battalions (in which case, 1 Boss will probably be on foot in a Trukk). Otherwise, none of the combinations I'm considering should require more than 3 at a time

The idea behind the Gretchin, as listed (aside from keeping with the theme) is that they can either race around and grab objectives or be (re)deployed as meatshields. Given that they're in Trukks, I can also have them running around the board creating an overall nuisance as well. xD Of course I could (and probably would) ditch their Trukks if I were going to play my list in a more foot sloggy way.

Anyway...enough rambling from me. I'm curious to hear what everyone thinks.

It's hard for me to wrap my head around this. I get what you're doing, and I even like it, the plug-and-play nature of the detachments making list building an easy experience. But it's hard to give some feedback because it's hard to see the synergies all the available list options would have. I typed up something a couple of days ago, but I wasn't happy with it, so I deleted it and decided to come back later. For now, I'll focus on individual components, instead of the overall picture.

The outrider detachment is just not anything I think I'd ever run. Bikers have a place, but a single, small unit of them probably won't accomplish much and I'd expect them to be pretty easily swatted away. I'm not sure how to feel about Deffkopta mobs. On one hand, I like that they are fast and cheap, making a good choice to fill brigade slots and then harass objectives. On the other, a mob doesn't really add a lot, as their offensive output isn't much and they aren't though to kill. And Skorchas, I was never a big fan of. I don't find Orks need help killing infantry, as most of our stuff does that in spades, so a fast heavy flamer just never seemed worth it. When it comes to index choices for cheap fast attack, I'd rather have warbuggies or trikes, in the same role as the deffkopta.

Evil Sunz deff dreads, though, are A+.

The Vanguard: those Nobz are expensive. They will put a word of hurt onto anything, but are pretty fragile to a lot of guns out there. Personally, I do like Nobz, but I think the cost needs to be kept down. Half the mob with weapons, the other half with just 2xChoppas to take the damage. Also, get some ammo runts; they can tank the damage caused by emergency disembarking when the trukk dies. Kommandos in a trukk? That might be the first time I've seen that suggested. Kommandos are good, and I'm seeing them pop up in a lot of tournament lists, but it's because they have a built in deep-strike mechanic. There is no need to take a trukk, ever, for them. Burna Boyz are cool. Probably overcosted, but in a Trukk is how you would have to run them if you want to, so I say have at it.

The spearhead: Fine. Lootas are overcosted in any scenario that isn't throwing tons of CP into them, where they become the best unit in the codex. If you have them in a trukk, they can perform for a turn or two at most before a smart opponent cracks that transport open and crushes them. Using the grots in the other detachment as a meatshield is the obvious synergy, but that again requires a CP investment, which then encourages mobing up another loota unit, which further encourages more CP useage. It's a slippery slope there. As is, one mob is fine, so long as you don't deploy them on the table without some kind of protection; they just die.

Patrol 1: I'll be frank, I'm not a fan of 20-man choppa boyz. One casualty to overwatch and the whole unit loses an attack per model. For that reason, I would never run them in battlewagons, and as such, I don't think I'm a good person to critique the detachment, other than to say "don't do it". Shoota boyz in battlewagons without the 'ard case I can see, as early game fire support and late game objective holders, but then I'd run them as bad moons. The fact is, the Evil Sunz kultur actually benefits large mobs of footsloggers more than vehicles, which is thematically weird, but that's the way it is.

Patrol 2: Runtherds aren't worth it. You're better taking more grots and just eating the morale damage. In the index, they had a role as the cheap elite choice for brigades, but they no longer take up a slot, so that is gone. A single one could be worth covering multiple large mobs of grots, but there isn't a lot of reasons to take large mobs, when smaller mobs fill more battalion slots.

I feel like a lot of what I typed may seem mostly negative, but I don't wanna leave that impression. It's of course all my opinions on this stuff and just how I would look at this individual components. Like I said at the top of the post, it's hard to figure out what a list would be with all these options, and I may feel different about some choices in the context of what they can provide for a list. At this time, this is the best I can offer.
