Hmm, just went through the bits box. Gonna need to find a different source of shields. Most power weapons seem to be left handed, including our own. :ermm:

Anyone know good 3rd party sources with right handed/ambidextrous shields?

Templar Brothern Upgrade Kit comes with plentiful amount of Storm Shields and Power Swords just need to scrap off the Fist logo on the Shield.

Don't necessarily even have to do that. We canonically have IF artifacts. We have a suit of IF artificer armour to the celestial lions if I remember right.

Yes we did, we also gave Chapter Master Koorland a set of Artificer Terminator Armour we repainted yellow for him after the rest of the Fists died.

Despite the angry marine reputation we have, we're actually a bunch of really generous guys.

Seems I steered things a bit off topic there. Back to the matter at hand, does the formation require us to use an HQ, or can it just be veterans? Bringing the SB marshal along for the ride with Helbrecht would be a touch redundant I think, wasting the reroll aura. That said, I'm still quite intrigued by the thought of a biker marshal with a posse of lancers that could be elsewhere while Helbrecht leads the foot sloggers.

So it's not a formation like in 7th, or even a detachment as the name implies.

Basically pick a detachment in your army and pay 1 CP. Everyone listed on the Sword Brethren detachment gets the Sword Brethren keyword. If you don't have any eligible HQ it doesn't matter.

I am very happy to say that i started my project to create over 40 marines with stormshields and chainswords. For this I started collecting all storm shields for normal power armor models I could get.. And now, with these new rules it will be playable.

And you pay another CP to make a captain in the formation a warlord with the special trait, correct?

Or Company Champions, but yes.

So, what would you lot say is the best Warlord choice? Is it purely in context of a list, or something to build some of the list itself around?

I lean towards the biker because I have one :P

That said, a bike limits possible escorts, mutual transportation and the like. I looked briefly at a Cataphractii Captain, but with the standard plastic load out he's only 3 points cheaper than Helbrecht, which isn't great.

I’m personally looking at a regular marshal with teeth of Tera....that’s a possible 8 attacks and chances to make more hits with the trait with 2 damage per wound at a negative 2 modifier at strength 5.....helbrecht would make it 6...woth re rolls and not just re roll ones

The more you roll the worse your chances of saving I say

Jump pack, plasma pistol, ToT, Blade Master trait.

He jumped up, fought a primaris lieutenant that was t5 due to salamander relic, didn't kill him which was actually a good thing because then he couldn't shoot him, but I completely forgot about the exploding sixes. He kills the lieutenant on the salamander players turn, then flies back across the board and finishes off a dreadnought with his plasma pistol, then charges into some th/ss terminators. Punks them except for the sarge, but the sarge swings back and kills the captain because I rolled like crap on my invuln saves. He was savage, and then the sword brethren with power fists, even though there were only three left charged into a gravis captain and just ran him over. Feels good brother.

Ran a Teeth of Terra/ Thunder Hammer Captain since he's one of only a few fully painted characters I have for my Templar. He got into combat one round with Grimaldus nearby, started with 7 attacks and ended up with 15 hits. That is easily one of my favorite warlord traits now.

I was hoping Biker vets were going to get a points drop in CA, but that doesn't look like its going to happen. I think GW is trying to pretend that they don't exist anymore because they may have something similar in the pipe. I'm getting ready to shelf them to make room for other things. It's a shame because my biker command squad is some of my best models but they just aren't worth the obscene points cost.

IDK I may keep them in my box for the odd time where I actually need a handicap against a newer player. They just draw fire like nobody's business.
