Inquisition post CA 2018

Recommended Posts

So acolyte and inquisitor wargear has not only remained the same in CA 2018, it didn't change in CA 2017, and hasn't changed since the index.  Not only are almost all, if not all, of those choices cheaper for every other Imperial army, we do not even get the guard discount on weapons for 4+ bs models.

Is anyone else feeling the love as much as I am?  I am so tempted to play only Inquisition models in ITC events for 2019 just to spite GW, but I'm not sure if even I will be able to suffer disappointment for that long.

I am so discouraged right now with my favorite faction of all time.  I am just not sure where to go.

Yeah. I'm saddened and down about Inquisition.

I think that the design philosophy at GW that looks at factions like inquisition and says, "Gee, what a wonderful faction for kill team but I can't imagine how they'll ever work on a 40k scale," is both ignorant, unimaginative, and, apparently, hates money. If you can't find a way within the current fluff to make them an "army" (you can) then...make it up. It's almost like they're a team of, I don't know, writers working within a still semi-unexplored fictional universe. Do you want the inquisition's private army to be unique and not overlap with other factions...OK, so do it. Heck, you hardly even need new models, just upgrade packs (GW loves upgrade packs if marines are any indicator.) Little inquisition "I"s that fit perfectly upon the shoulders of Cadian and Tempestus models. Two arms holding a gun that can be taken once per squad but not by IG. A fancy hat. Make a separate upgrade kit for vehicles such as chimeras and rhinos. Make it the only way to get access to a really cool weapon that only inquisition can field on them.

Want players to buy some big...thing. Make it. Inquisition could use a cool Land Raider unique to them. Some custom mobile fortress/battle tank/field interrogation chamber. Radical inquisitors could be a small range of daemonhosts, ranging from rehashes of the current models to ogryn sized ones. Puritans can get...cool rules to integrate better with our chamber militant (which is cooler anyway.)

I'm just saying, the current excuses are narrow minded BS. Makes me wonder how many people at GW even like inquisition.

Whilst I agree in general, it’s not fair to blame the rules writers. They can only write rules for what the model designers (including upgrade packs) produce. The rules designers made it very clear that they are led by the model design team and they don’t have any real influence over what is produced.

Your frustration is better directed at the model designers :)

The inquisition never recovered from the split between grey knights and inquisition back in 6th. Their rules are trash, no acolyte specialitzation. So They have been relegated to chill games and I've only played them once in these two years of 8th. Was thinking on getting three chinese culexus to go with one inquisitor but I think that I'll save for going to Scotland in August instead.

Please don't think I'm blaming the rules writers. I'm the overall philosophy at GW that handicaps the rules writers. The higher ups could easily make inquisition a viable faction, like they did genestealer cults, but chose not to. I strongly feel that this is a mistake and it really hurts my enthusiasm to play this game since the inquisition was what originally got me into it.

A shame the special weapons didn't get brought in line with the rest of imperial factions, but I think expecting anything else in CA was a bit too hopeful.

Really, going back to what the DH/ WH codexes were... It was mostly GK with some Inquisitors, fun retinues aaaaaaand that's about it. All of this can be done today; it's a little more restrictive sure, but it can be done!

Inquisitors still exist, have some cool powers or some great special characters to "count-as" with little effort.

Acolytes are less stellar, but they get free re-rolls and can take some cool options and *almost* any imperial pimp-wagon they want.

Assassin's still exist, you just need to bring 3 unless you want to sacrifice CP, which is probably a cool idea if you're theming the army!

GK, SoB & DW (the Ordo's Militant) exist with codex support no less.

You can still pull from the IG & Marine 'dexes to plug any gaps.

I still feel the easiest way... and in fact made easier by the Sisters dex... is to add a single rule to the <ordos> tag... & make them a mini dex with the rules

eg Hereticus can join a Ministorum list,  if acolytes are taken then they dont take up a slot, but can only be taken if a HQ inquisitor is present.

The jereko cant be taken in a DW or Sisters army...

Any INQ unit can be taken with a IG or SM army

people where saying that sisters were dead.... now look at us!:biggrin.: :biggrin.:

that's true. But how many years have you been waiting for?

Since 6th edition Inquisition didn't receive nothing but the index despite that IF GW would it would be possible to use plastic models that GW sells for KT and RT (amazing models, except Elucia Vhane).

Since our last release not long, just one or two.... decades :tongue.:

Imagine how bad it must be for Primaris Lieutenants players, it’s been entire days now and no new release!

They haven't had a whole release since Calgar, who is clearly Guilleman's lieutenant, a whole week ago. Life is ruff.

I agree 100%

I started my INQ army then no GK just stormtroopers (kasrKin at the time), the rebuilt it in 6th/7th and now... I have 50-75 converted / kit bashed stormtroopers with no home... it's very disheartening

Hold up, you can use them as guard plus a command detachment of inquisitors. My kasrkin are still painted as inquisition stormtroopers

True I could but, the my inquisitor would stand alone, gone are the glory days of have your INQ being a absolute monster on the field, gone are the days of having multiple specialist squads that you could do in 6th/7th (crusaders / DCA squad lead by a priest etc.)

Now you only have a small retinue with very limited resources, as a detachment.
