Slaanbull's projects, 40k Emperor's Children warband

Hey everybody, just finished 100 points of my small kill team that I've used at my GW shop and against friends. I've wanted to share some more pictures of my stuff here on the site since I usually just lurk around here. Let me know what you think! :biggrin.:

They're led by Ilitoias Atonian, forced to field test his various serums and projects on the planet surface by his yet to be named Warlord. He's brought a handfull of warriors either addicted to his tonics or otherwise forced to protect him.

I'll follow with a bunch of pictures, been playing around with my phone camera, but I think I'll go back to my dedicated camera. :happy.:

The full team as they are assembled right now.

Ilitoias himself, being his own test subject before he had the power to subject other members of his warband, he now carries around a dialysis apparatus on his back to constantly cleanse his blood of impurities. Luckily, the waste from this machine is a good tool for building up a resistance to his other toxins and is frequently supplied to his subjects.

Three natives addicted to Ilitoias' drugs. Since a space marine (and especially a loud and boisterous Slaanesh worshipping astartes) isn't your typical covert operative, the warband needed locals to help them operate on the alien planet. These three carry nooses around their necks as a reminder of the inevitable death their addiction will cause should they not return to their new master.

The close combat specialist of my Kill Team, Antonius Thest, the Oatbreaker. Without a constant supply of drugs to keep it entertained, the daemon possessing him will completely devour his soul.

Abdelis Xandassus, a brutish legionnaire of the 3rd, he is unusually unambitious and enjoys nothing more than the destructive power of his sonic blaster and a steady stream of chemicals to alter his mind and body.

Bethor Kaelon, a primaris marine hailing from 1st Legion's geneseed, he is the warbands newest member. How his fate brought him here, or if he ever even made contact with his siring legion after the Indomitus Crusade I am unaware.

Teloss Bericosian, also know as the Bull. The model that started the warband, he's almost as old as the wrathmonger kit getting released at the End Times event for WHFB. He has been sitting unpainted until the release of Kill Team this summer. I ended up snapping a bunch of extra pictures of him since I'm quite happy with both the paintjob and the conversion. :smile.: Let me know if you want more pictures of the other members, although I might snap some next time I'm playing with the camera anyways. :smile.:

Last up is a WIP picture of Lycon Thricecursed, the last planned member of the kill team. I'm really looking forward to finishing this guy.

Excellent work on the warband! I love how each of the models reads as an actual character: Ilitoias (with his slick combover hairdo) and Bethor (fantastic use of an ancient weapon bit) take the cake for me, although the use of manic grinning Poxwalker heads on the cultists is a very inspired touch as well!

They all look so characterful and well painted, cant wait to see more :)

Thank you! I'll try to paint as much as possible over the Christmas holidays (in between work and my studies of course!).

Cheers! I love mixing the old bits with newer models, they usually merge better than I plan on. :) I wanted to do the poxwalker heads for a while, I need more smiling or grinning models in my army! The easy to build lord of contagion and darkoath chieftain are models whose heads I have plans for as well. :D

That's uh... That's a lot to take in at once. Incredibly characterful (and disturbing) miniatures. Thank you for sharing!

Well.. It is all about excess after all, so thanks for indulging. ;)

Really nice conversions and painting, the wide range of kits used is impressive.

I think Thricecursed may be my favourite, the pose and skeletal hands are just fantastic.

Thank you for the kind words. I think I used too many kits. Lycon Thricecursed is going to be great, the idea is that he is regrowing his left arm with the help of Ilitoias. Used an arm from the DE wracks kit for that, the other one is from the mutated space wolf guys.

Great stuff. Amazing ideas and a really solid theme. I really like the use of some 2nd Ed sonic weaponry in there. This would be amazing expanded out to a full army. Looks like SystemSyn is finally in for some competition on the EC front.

Cheers, but that's something I don't think I can live up to yet! SystemSyns army is amazing on all fronts, and I would love to have a painted collection of that size!

I really like the look of these lads. The Fallen Primaris is excellent, probably my favorite of the bunch.

I also get the feeling his weapon is probably older than I am :laugh.:

I have to ask, can we get a picture of him from behind? Because it looks like you grafted the Doom Siren onto the Primaris backpack, and that's interesting to me. The side view gives me a slight idea of how you did it, but not exactly the best angle to get the full view.
