Just a nice little Legio Mortis Plog

Made myself a little Christmas present with the Battlegroup box. Another Battlegroup and a Questoris banner are still on their way.

Guess I will build the Warhounds later today and soon they will don the colours of the Legio Mortis!

So stay tuned for some pictures.

Well there is first progress to be shown. Both Warhounds are built with the arms magnetized and the armor plates stuck on them with blue tack. It was really fun and enjoyable to build those two fellows. Tomorrow I will doublecheck the main structure for stuff I overlooked when I cleaned up the recesses and seam lines and stuff like that. Afterwards they will get some primer on them (I love not having to rely on rattlecan primer during winter) and I will build and magnetize the weapon options... and perhaps I will also get some airbrushing on the main structure done. And I guess I will have to figure out how to downscale pictures here....

The Plasmablaster is mainly there because it was easy to build and was needed as a reference point for the magnets on the structure (so see how much material I have to remove there). Regarding the loadout I guess I will keep it flexibel and see what loadouts I like after having some games under my belt. It will heavily depend on what maniple I  play anyway.... and with two Battlegroup boxes and 8 God-Machines I will have enough flexibility in that regard I guess (as soon as GW releases the second Warlord weapon sprue and the new Reaver sprue anyway.... hooray for magnets!).

I recommend adding the cables to the guns and having a second pair of magnets on the end. I’ve done that and it really helps prevent the guns from swivelling around.

I had to put in a little bit of sprue as a spacer on the underside of the “roof”. The magnet is stuck to that, right up against the wall. I’ve taken a photo but can’t figure out how to add it here, so words will have to do! Might start my own plog.

Well regarding the magnets.... n52 5mm magnets have enough pulling power so there is no wobbling around. And well... got a rather productive day today. First Warhound is done with the structure and the carapace. Tomorrow I will prime the rest of the armor plates and the cockpit/helmet and get those done too I guess.

I know that the chevron on the carapace is a bit off center but not that much that I will do it all over again.

Follow the link and enjoy the pictures even though they are a bit crappy.....

Very nice. How are people fitting 5mm magnets in warhounds, and does it involve drilling out the whole ball joint?

I’m using really tiny magnets from K&J and that doesn’t require any drilling out, just docking the elbow a hair till it’s flat.

I think a few of us have done mini-Tutorials (I've basically talked through it in my project log: but basically, fill up the socket joint with putty and put the magnet in, and on the appropriately halved connector joined to the arm - use another magnet. Hope that helps!

A great start Vaux - and looking forward to continued progress!
