Can I fire weapons on my own troops?

I'm running some Phosphex weapons in my IW list (Rapiers and Medusae), and I'm wondering if I can, as a last-ditch denial tactic, hit the troops on the objective with a Phosphex shell? If it matters, the troops getting hit would be Militia/Auxilia or Mechanicum

Yeah, so far as I know there isn't any Skaven-esque "Life is Cheap" rules at play in 30K, sorry mate.  

 

The closest ones I can think of is the Armies of Dark Compliance "Warmaster's Due" which allow you to claim a better cover save if astartes are targeted behind milita units, then the militia take hits (thus, you haven't targeted them, your opponent has indirectly).  And then there's incidental fire via scatter: templates can't be placed so they cover friendly models (Except the Glaive's BEEAAAAM CANNON... kinda), but if it scatters it can scatter onto friendly troops.  So, y'know, with Phosphex your last ditch attempt has to be a danger-close attack against a non-engaged enemy unit right near your own troops.

That's right, as far as I'm aware Vykes! If you wanted to do that, you're then hoping for an (un)favourable scatter.

 

I suppose the question would be: what would the benefit be of clearing off your own Troops from the objective? (Unless it's mysterious of course...) Be interested to know what you had in mind!

With Phosphex you can move the template 3"/Turn. If I fire onto an enemy that's going to charge an objective, it's only useful for a turn. If I hit my troops, I can move it onto the enemy after they've charged me.

That is not entirely correct.

First it is 2" not 3 and second:

You can only move the blast markers if you hit more models through this movement.

That means your control over the movement is somewhat limited. Still awesome but you can't move it away from models if that means you hit less in total just to hit a certain target.
