New techpriest model in Kill Team

This guy's got quite a gut on him, hasn't he? I prefer the Mars style head and the Stygies weapon. I only just got some Infiltrators to pad out my squad to 10 so I'm not sure what I'd do with the others? I might just make them into Ruststalkers just because the models look different.

I like how his fingers are steepled, it gives him the appearance that he is thinking, probably coming up with a devious scheme. I really want to get my brushes on this guy.

I love this model. He actually looks a lot like a 'typical'  Dominus from the Mechanicus game.

Unfortunately I have so many Dominus class  priests... this has become our new "Lieutenant" in a way. Still... gotta have him. Way to go GW

It's not a dominus, it has a different loadout, and it will get 40k rules:

two new sets – Starn’s Disciples and Theta-7 Acquisitus, both featuring all-new Commander miniatures – each a brand-new unit for their faction, for both Kill Team and Warhammer 40,000

[...]

the Tech-Priest Manipulus specialises in dealing devastating damage at range with the magnarail lance

What do you predict his role to be? His staff seems less geared (sigh) toward combat so do you think he will play more of a support role? I know the current Dominus is supposed to be a combat-focused tech priest according to the lore but they already play as more of a support character than a beatstick don't they?

Looking at the size of the base compared to the Sicarians it has to be a 50mm base, so the same size as the current Dominus?

GW states he's a ranged specialist. If the dominus typical reroll-1s-to-hit and repairs are in there too, this guy might make a good backfield buff/repair character. And having an omnissian axe is not exactly bad either, even if it's not his specialty to chop up stuff.

I thought so too from the Community photo, but the box art and a second look at the photo makes me think that he's supposed to be seated and that the "girdle" which I originally thought was covering his belly is actually over his knees. It'll be easier to tell if we actually see a shot from the side before the model is released.

Hopefully we can see more new admech stuff. We haven’t had anything new since the initial release. Come on transport!

We did have Cawl, but your point still stands.

We need at least a transport and some sort of flyer.

I'd have also liked an actual AdMech Lord of War (not a Knight).

I hope he isn't an HQ. And he probably won't have an aura, BUT if he's an Elite ranged specialist, maybe he turns out to be something similar to a Death Guard Blight Spawn. I realize it isn't a flamer he's holding but the rules could be some sort of auto-hitting Death Ray or pistol (he seems to have a choice.)

As an eilte, he would probably challenge my Datasmith who is already hanging on by  a thread in my lists.

Indeed I also thought it was a shush gesture till I saw the 2nd image angle with the other gun and head.

Really loving this model, there’s a good amount of Baron Harkonen in it. I’m also glad I didn’t get the moonscape set when the new killzone has the intact building. With the drill shown on the shadow war Armageddon box lineart coming out with GSC rules by the end of this year I’m going to have a very dense table worth of Mechanicus terrain.

And the extra infiltrators will end up the power sword option and several members of each squad will do double duty in my kill team for all the close quarters fighting on the rogue trader killteam map and the new arena.

Actually I thought he was picking his nose at first! I might do the bionic arm a more prominent colour. I do like him better in Mars personally.

The extra models will be good for my Kill Team as I already run 10 taser Infiltrators but the Rustalkers are actually okay in Kill Team, but then again so are Power sword Sicarans.

I love this model, except for the mechadendrites that are sticking straight out of that "gut-plate". Had there been some curve to them I wouldn't have minded but now they look at bit off IMO

I certainly hope that he's a HQ slot so my brigade can swap out one of the enginseers for this guy. The magnarail lance is described as a ranged damage dealer but I'm very curious as to what this fuselage looking gun is. It's tough to imagine that the Manipulus is going to be anything other than a backline character, but I hope he's more of a sniper (maybe he doesn't require LoS since he's so intensively staring at that screen) than a shooting buffer.

I think we're all holding out hope for that skitarii with the two-handed chainsword from the GSC video though. A cheap HQ option which would allow <Skitarii Infantry> to charge after advancing would be nice, since ruststalkers might become pretty decent again then.

I had some more thought on this unit for rules.... and regardless of his force org slot what if he had a +1 to hit Aura? I think that would be a fantastic compliment to a re-roll 1 aura while still complimenting the Destroyer/Kastellan poor B.S. (Not to mention I might use Ballistarii a bit more.)

What does Manipulus mean and what could it imply?

I first thought maybe manipulating something, but as far as I unterstand google Manipulus is just another word for Maniple which is something only used for Skitarii Legions, not Cult units, or am I wrong here?

Just playing detective here without having any clue at all what I am talking about :p

I think the implication is just that he's explicitly a military commander, as compared to the jack-of-all-trade Dominus. My guess is a to-wound aura that complements the Dominus's to-hit aura.

As for the model, I don't dislike it - there's nothing wrong with an admech model being kinda grotesque - but I wish it was a bit closer to the artwork. The metal frame around the priest should be a bit bigger, and the priest himself a bit smaller within it.
