Don Hooson, the guy who did so well with blightlords in the tourney setting, didn't spam terminators. He used the earlier turns as set up to kill things that would pose the greatest threat to the terminators. If all you have are terminators, this seems impossible.

Seems like 10 blightlords is about right.

My main opponents to day have been Tau and Imperial Fists

Tau have a tendency to do terrible things to units that arrive in rapid fire range. What would people think to popping them in a land raider and driving them to the enemy. At leat then I don't have to worry about the 9"charge

Obviously this wouldn't be in isolation it would be part of a advancing force of foetid drone, winged Daemon Prince, marines in rhino and stuff

Well if you can manage to drive the Landraider far enough before it gets blown up then you can do that. I wouldn't hold my breath tho. Also trying to support an inefficient unit like Terminators with an even more inefficient unit like Landraiders won't exactly help with your list I fear.

Best thing you can do to protect Terminators is to have them arrive when the opponent is already busy dealing with your other units. Plague Marines in Rhinos help a lot there.

If your army is Battle Forged, then your Combi Bolters' rapid fire range is 18" instead of 12", so you can put them down just within 18" of a unit in cover, gain the benefit of rapid fire, and if they want to return the favour with Pulse Carbines or Plasma Rifles, then they have a few inches to move. Plus, even a squad of 5 will put out a good 20 shots per turn with combi-bolters at that range, so you're more than likely crippling any unit that might want to venture out to return fire.

I definitely think deep-striking is the way to go, it's free movement (ok it costs a turn or two) and it offers the best possible protection for no extra points cost.
