Love the Van Saars I was going for a very similar vibe with mine naming wise :P but I got distracted by other things midway through building them. SO MANY TINY PIECES! What colours are you going with?

Love the Van Saars I was going for a very similar vibe with mine naming wise :tongue.: but I got distracted by other things midway through building them. SO MANY TINY PIECES! What colours are you going with?

Don't even speak to me about those neck parts :furious: I lost one within 5 minutes of building the first model and was then doubly sold on using the Skitarii heads instead!

The colours will be black/grey/ deep navy and orange with some metallics. Think Deathstroke from DC. To match the Orange/ Black Kill Team case i'll be carrying them around in...!

That sounds like a great scheme. My Van Saars are called Hausers Half Lifers so I was going to do them orange and metal, but I saw some on Facebook that looked like Decepticony (think Cyclonus and the Sweeps) all silver and purple so I might go with that or even Boba Fett colours ...

Looking forward to seeing some paint on yours :D

If you ignore the hand not quite reaching the arm ;) but hey ho, not something you notice in game!

Had my first two games of the campaign last week, I was against two of the strongest gangs in our sector of the Underhive;

  • The Springsteens [Orlock]
  • The Dust Gate Orb-Weavers [Van Saar]

The Springsteens was a simple mission, choose 6 gangers to enter a small arena and whoever gets the most kill points wins. Play until someone's gang fully runs away or is destroyed.

It was a Valiant first outing for the Boppers, with them proving uncharacteristically tough for some Rad-Soaked newbies! But a few crucial misses and multiple Heavy Weapons in the opposing gang meant an eventual loss. I did however manage to send their trusty cyber dog into a Pitfall, which cost the Springsteens 60 creds to rescue/ repair - a price that you must pay for obvious sentimental reasons!

I however had a ganger basically die and with my atrocious credit rolls, my next opponent gave me a loan to save them... Which I must repay double when I hit 200 Credits... Unless I want to challenge him I presume.

The second game saw my gang now in a bit of a state, with the Leader and one Champion down. I did however gain some house favour in the form of a new Juve and just enough credits to give him a Las Sub-Carbine.

To keep it interesting, even though they had just given me a loan, we decided on a custom scenario for the next engagement. Two hive scum were escorting the Orb-Weavers new Aracnorig to the gang HQ and the survivors of my last battle had encountered them and forced a standoff. My new Juve took the task of starting face to face with the cyber-monster and it soon became apparent as a rite of initiation his Las Pistol wasn't charged to max capacity as he failed an ammo roll on his first shot, though he did cause a wound! He was then savagely mauled by servo arms, but survived.

It was bloody, but I managed to inflict just enough damage to get the rig to start to fall back which then my Plasma Cannon ended it with a parting maximal shot to the back.

In the end I gained a Sludge Swamp territory and just enough creds to buy a Suspensor for Selina's Plasma Cannon, making her my secret weapon!

Is that Henry South's Arachni-rig I see in the background?

A wonderful board and it looks like you're well on your way to to becoming part of the legend of Necromunda :biggrin.:

YES! Henry's a reg at HATE club where I go to. He also part-painted the ZM. Total dude. I plasma cannon'd his rig into the dust though ;)

Small update for a game I played a last week or so:

Skirmish against some mighty Orlocks. I was rather outnumbered and as the defender, had to set up in the middle of the board, which was tiles arranged in an X. It was oh so bloody, with incendiary charges being thrown into my space and setting a lot of people on fire - however, the boppers (mostly) held their ground with Selina's Suspensor turning the tide early on, knocking down and critically injuring three gangers off the bat. A Combination of Rad Grenades and grit saw me through however.

I bottled first, and started to flee - however I could choose to voluntarily leave the arena and end the game. I took this option as I was surrounded, on fire and starting to risk my Leader/ Champions. I was ahead on VP by 2, however for voluntarily leaving meant my opponent got to roll for D3 additional points! Luckily, he rolled a 2 - giving me the win! The collapsed dome was mine!

For my troubles I got 200 credits overall, 100 of which went straight back to Henry's Van Saar (who lent me Doc Dollars) and a new Juve! Plus I rolled a 15 on the trading post, so can get whatever I want really.

The campaign now is in downtime (well, downtime is just ending so I need to get spending!) which gives me 250 additional creds to spend on wargear or a Brute! I think the Servo Rig might just be a must, eh? ;)

Here is a nice action shot towards the latter half of the game - as you can see, plenty pinned/ on fire/ BOTH.

Got some work done on my own Arachni-Rig! Used UR-025 from Blackstone fortess as a base then added some third party servo arms and lots of little Van Saar touches. Probably my most ambitious kitbash ever and I think it turned out quality.

This is actually V2 as well, v1 had a full rad cannon on the shoulder and a larger twin Las on the gun arm, but decided it looked too bulky for something Van Saar would produce.

In terms of fluff, this version of the Rig is a body replacement. The (un)lucky ganger's only organic parts left are (most of) the head and spinal cord. GRIMDUSTRIAL.

Forgot the most important detail, his silly name:

Got the orange done on all of the original B' Boppers. You can also spot the new Juves in the back, one of which needed an emergency arm transplant after one was misplaced in a windy base-coating accident... Hoping to get these guys finished along with decent progress on the Juves/ Arachni-rig tonight.
