3000 Militia

I picked up a bunch of R&H upgrade sets when they went on LCTB and I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to do with them that’ll be able to hold its own against Astartes and Mechanicum lists. Here’s what I’ve come up with; it could certainly be run Loyalist, but I’ll be running it as a Traitor for Rule of Cool.

The theory is that I have two blobs that want to be in melee rushing forward. They’ll die, tie up something shooty, or the Discipline Master will Melta Bomb something eventually. Then I have 2 Infantry Squads for objective scoring. They’re not terribly sturdy, but they’re also not terribly threatening. A Drill pops up in my opponent’s backfield with 8 Multimeltas. I’ve considered maybe using plasma fusils here instead? I could drop the Fire Support Squad and apply Merchant Princeling to the Plasma Fusils instead. The Sentinels probably outflank to be annoying later in the game. Then I have a Baneblade on one side, two Malcadors on the other, and 3 Medusa Batteries holding the middle. Thoughts?

Have you thought about using Legion allies? Militia on its own is really squishy, and a POTL allied detachment could get you some Terminators on the board, and depending on the Legion, they could even score.

They’ll probably ally with a Legion sometimes, but I wanted a base to build to that would also work on its own.

Where does it say cyber augmetics don’t get FNP? I don’t see that in either the cyber augmetics or medic rules. I’m looking at the iBooks version, I don’t have a hard copy.

I’ve looked longingly at the Thunderbolt, but I already own the Sentinels, and the Thunderbolt is $$$. Maybe drop the Sentinels and one of the Medusa carriages? I only own one of those atm, and I’m concerned about their effectiveness. Two Medusas would also be easier to hide out of LOS.

Nevermind, I got it confused with gene crafted.

The great thing about the militia is that you don't really need to use the FW models. My thunderbolt was built from the corvus blackstar kit.

The problem with artillery batteries is that they can't split fire, 3 guns on one target is overkill imo
