Kit Bash Servitor Ideas

Prot

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Just curious as I've been having fun testing the new Maniple Servitor specialist detachment (I think it's called?). The problem is Servitors by GW are super expensive, but I need to build some new ones that would be 'legal' for all GW play and I'm wondering if any of you have done some kit-bashing?

The only 'bits' I can come up with are from the Datasmith(s) that I have on sprue from the Katellan box set. I have one built and painted but will probably never use the others. Any other ideas for cool sources of Servo based Servitors?

Skitarii has some gubbinz you can use and the Kataphon box is brimming with mechadendrites and extra bits you can slap on them.

For the main body just Cadian/ Catachan Guardsmen aren't bad as they're pretty low-key but chunky humans to work from as a base.

Maybe Kharadron Overlords from AoS could be worth a look? Cool fluff could be they were some remaning Squat corpses that the Ad Mech "put to use".

Prot - If you search for the Warhammer World titan display, shown off the FW Warlord titan.  There a lot of cool servitor conversion.  From what I remember it pretty much Genestealer Cult & standard Mechaicus kits.

I try get some of the photos I've taken & get them posted up later today.

I build 16 of this guys. It took some time to get all the necessary bits but it was worth the time.

I can't remember who it is that makes them, but somebody on this forum has some top notch servitors made from Genestealer cultist bodies and legs, augmetic arms from the Kataphron Destroyer weapons and the Destroyer Phosphor Blaster guns cut down into rivet guns. They absolutely look the part and if I could remember who's blog it was I'd provide the link.

I've seen this Praetorian Battle Servitor when looking for inspiration for my Ordo Machinum stuff for Inq28:

They're bigguns too:

According to the guy the parts list was:

"The Parts list mostly comprises a Kataphron Breacher kit and a heavily modified Slaughterpriest from the fantasy line, with skitarii and electro-priest parts. The heavy bolter is actually taken from a Sisters of Battle vehicle sprue because of the ammo drum, but any imperial guard heavy bolter that isn't embedded in the hull of a tank is fine."

I suspect there is some mileage in using the GS Cult minis and replacing the hybrid parts with Kataphron spares. Also I think several of the Poxwalkers could be de-nurgled a bit and would be good base models for servitors. Finally the AoS zombies and ghouls make good starting points for various servitor conversions.

Wow, that really looks impressive. The parts appear to be in scale with each other. Those Slaughterpriests must be massive!

I can confirm, they're huge.

In fact, Slaughterpriests are TALLER than Primaris Marines. In my WIP thread, you can see my kitbashed based on Krieg from Borderlands 2 and he's very obviously taller than the Primaris to his left.

Slaughterpriests are big. I used one that came free on a white dwarf to make an ogryn.

Gederas, your Borderlands 2 homage is fantastic. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeking inspiration from that game. I've got an Ork with a gun painted like a Torgue Legendary gun in my Ork plog. :)

Sockwithaticket had a good point. I've been meaning to pick up a Talos to harvest it for bits for a Magos. I haven't managed to justify the cost even if I'll probably be able to put a Chronos on display after I've got the bits I'm looking for.

I'm about to start work on converting the Goliath half of the Necromunda box into a unit of servitors using parts from used Kataphron sprues, used electro-priest sprues, used Skitarii sprues, etc.  Possibly some stuff clipped from the old Zombie sprues for WFB.

What about the Delaque as a base? Bald head and goggles could be a good start. Or maybe they look a bit too tech-priest-y...

It can be a good idead especially with the coat painted the same coulour as the vanguard/rangers to unit the look of the army. Maybe add a back pack and a servo arm...

Been thinking a bit more about this as it's something I'd like to do also. What about the Van Saar bodies (and some of the masked heads). Some of them are running which isn't ideal but combined with some Delaque heads, they might look good.

Maybe grab a SM Dev squad for the weapons and backpacks and sprinkle in some AdMech arms and bits and you should be somewhere close?

And you can use the Delaque bodies to make a couple of variant TPE's with Skitarii heads so you don't have to have so many of the same old TPE model.

Once I'd through my current painting, I might give that a go!

Y'know I said I was thinking about buying a Talos and using the spare parts for Admech conversions? Oops, I kinda purchased one today. It looks like there will be lots of vials and small mechanical arms that will come in handy. I'm assembling a Cronos. I willtake a picture of the parts that are left afterwards later if that would be useful?

Thanks for so many great ideas everyone. Lots of great inspiration here too. And by all means if there’s more, please post it.

I have just finished a massive AdMech project I started before the Christmas break and I’m dying to start this servitor project.

I love the idea of using spare Kataphron bionics as I don’t really make Breachers, however for the body I prefer something a bit smaller. I want to be able to keep them about the same height as the original servitors so they fit on 25mm bases and have a chance of being hidden. (They scream first strike).

So what I’m getting from you guys is I should look at Chaos Cultists (I have quite a few), GSC dudes (I don’t have any) and Poxwalkers (I have quite a few ).

I've posted this image in another thread or two talking about kitbashing Servitors so I apologize if you've already seen it, but I think it does a nice job illustrating how well the GSC Neophyte models can be bashed into very good Servitors. These are made from the leftover bits from the Kataphrons with a Skitarii backpack. After filing it down as much as possible, a round detail can be placed right on the GSC symbol and it simply disappears with no other work. With the new rules, I suspect I'll be making several more of these in the somewhat near future; a fabricators work is never done, so many projects to construct never enough time!

Dammit, you make me buy even more plastic...the delaque box seems almost perfect for a ridiculous amount of TPEs - robes, bionic heads, scale that makes skitarii parts/bionics fit. Add a skitarii backpack with a servo arm, replace guns with laspistols, and all that's missing is the axe.

Ah, it was you I was trying to remember who made those conversions. They are top notch. :)

As promised, Here's the leftover parts after building a Kronos. I did lose one small hooked arm since the small grey plastic piece fell on my large grey carpet and somehow shifted into another dimension before I could start searching for it.

Talos bits1

Talos bits2

There's loads of jars, vials and assorted bits as well as mechanical arms that would suit a Magos or some Servitors nicely.
