Chaplain w/Jump Pack (Raptors chapter)

Space marine chaplain from the Raptors chapter, completed with Tamiya, Citadel, Vallejo, and Reaper Master Series acrylics; Ammo of Mig and AK Interactive enamels.

 

The base model is a now out of production (I think?) plastic chaplain model that was featured in the Reclusium Command Squad box set from a few years back. I modified the model by swapping out his right-handed pistol for a power fist and giving him a jump pack from the Vanguard Veterans box; I think that this is the best loadout for him, which is a shame because the backpack he came with is a fantastic unique sculpt. Comments and criticism welcomed as always!

Really nice characterful piece with the kit bashing! I'm surprised how well the pose looks with the jump pack addition.

 

I don't often see kit bashed jump pack Chappies these days so seeing another kit bashed one always gives me a good grin. The paint job is excellent too, especially the Crozius' details.

 

Is there an army to go with him?

There is an army to go with him, but it's still in the building process at the moment. On deck at the moment are some Vanguard Vets that he'll accompany, two shooty Dreads, a couple of Dev squads, three Razorbacks, and a Lias Issodan conversion. That's all on my bench right now.

 

After that, I have a bunch more troops (intercessors, hellblasters, inceptors, normal marines) to build and paint, plus a chaplain dread that I'm converting. (I really like chaplains.)

It's a shame FW stopped producing their Chappy Dread last year, but I am really looking forwards to how you kitbash together a Chaplain Dreadnought. :tu:

Unfortunately I don't have a WIP thread as I feel like I lack the time and drive to maintain one. Also, I seem to most often paint in short bursts so updates would be infrequent at best. I might consider it though!

Nice kit bash! He looks great, smart use of parts. Paint job is nice and clean. I think its easy to say you have a lethal smash-chaplain.
