Repulsors

Check out the blood angels forum GrimDark blog. Skip to the last few pages to see this type of army done. He used three repulsor and two redemptors to fairly good effect in events. I found it interesting.

Thanks for the heads up that's just what I'm looking for now just to put a dark Angels spin on the list

No problem! I’ve been thinking on it as well. Maybe two repulsors with an Azrael blob may work. It’s hard to fit it all in to take advantage of some of our more pertinent stratagems. Perhaps instead of a blob go for a ravenwing detachment of black knights or whatever else.

Edit: Quick check in battle scribe you can do a battalion with Intercessors, master, lieutenant and 2 repulsors for roughly 1050-1100 depending on extras, leaving plenty of space dependent on your total on adding a spin to it.

A heads up with just two Repulsors you won't get very far. One of them almost always gets blown up turn 1. The key to the BA list is target saturation. The two Redemptors also help a lot with that.

I have been running the following list for the last month (1 tournament and league games):

Cadian Battalion

2x Company Commander

3x Infantry Squads w/Mortars

Dark Angels Battalion

Azrael

Primaris Lieutenant

Techmarine

3x Bolter Scouts

Darkshroud

9man Hellblaster Squad

3x Repulsors w/ Twin Las and all the gatling

It's been very good so far and being mobile has made it a lot of fun to play. I came 4th in the small Tournament and currently coming second in my weekly league. Haven't played against Knight army yet though which would be a true test for the list.

I'll be going to Cancon Tournament in Australia on the 25th. 8 games, 150 players. I'll let you all know how I go.

In the last turn of every game, your Dark Angels shoot down any remaining Cadians who have seen/heard too much, right? RIGHT?!

Indeed Shabbadoo! Mine are painted as Penal Legion so are extra expendable! Mind you I don't think I've finished a game with them alive lol (except for the game where I tabled an Ultramarine player because my Fellblade killed Guilliman in overwatch).

So I had a fantastic weekend at Cancon fun wise but game wise I didn't fair so well lol.

Lost my first game vs Dark Eldar/Eldar 31 - 19. I got first turn and had him on the ropes after turn 1 but failed to finish off his last two Ravagers turn 2 which meant Repulsors started dying and was downhill for me from there.

Won my second game vs Harlequins/Eldar 27 - 23. All the shots proved too much for him even with 4+ invuls. The game was in the bag when the Solitaire charged my two 5 man scout squads on the left flank and only killed one scout. I then attack back and took 4 out of 5 wounds from him. We both did the attack again strat, him going first only killing 3 scouts and my scouts manage to kill the Solitaire in return.

Lost my third game vs Tyranids 20 - 14. This game was streamed on Twitch on the downunder_network. He had a tonne of genestealers and lots of tricks. I fell for the locking the units in combat trap too many times. The Swarmlord blew himself up with a perils Turn 3 which allowed me to hit back with all 3 Repulsors still alive. I was too little too late though as he turtled to secure his points. Was an amazing game, learned a lot.

Lost my fourth game vs Knights 28 - 24. I managed to kill his Archeron turn 1 and put the hurt on the Valiant Turn 2 but wasn't enough. Once the Shroud died Repulsors dropped like flies. Man of the match was the Primaris Lieutenant with Heavenfall Blade charging into the Valiant who had 7 wounds left after a Repulsor ate the overwatch. Hit 5 times, wounded 5 times. Valiant failed all his saves and the Lieutenant cut him down doing 10 damage.

Lost my 5th game vs Catachans/Castellan 25 - 18. The Repulsors were mowing down everything but wasn't able to put much hurt on the Castellan. Once the Shroud died Repulsors were exploding. The triple Basliks were also putting the hurt on the whole game.

Lost my 6th game vs Knights/Scions 39 - 15. This game was against a good friend of mine. There was nothing much I could really do but try and kill a Knight at a time. I managed to kill the Gallant quite easily but the Valiant with the Relic Flamer was just too brutal and ended up wrecking everything almost by itself.

Won my 7th game vs Orks 36 - 10. This matchup was heavily in my favour. The Orks couldn't really do anything but charge at me and the Repulsors mowed down wave after wave of Orks. The Lootas had a shocking bout of damage the first turn which didn't help his cause and the Tank Bustas failed to kill a Repulsor Turn 2. The Techmarine was very busy that game though lol.

Won my 8th game vs Death Guard 31 - 15. I was worried about this match up but the dice gods were heavily in my favour and not much in my opponents. I was rolling so many 5s and 6s to wound that my dice looked ridiculously questionable. Memorable moments include Azrael popping Never Forgive, Never Forget when fighting the Warlord Daemon Prince in combat getting 7 hits with the sword of secrets then doing 6 wounds including 5 sixes for 5 Mortal wounds plus damage. He felled the foul beast and sent it back to the Warp. Later in the game on Turn 5 his Lascannon Predator killed a Repulsor which exploded and I re-rolled the 6 into a 6. It then killed the Techmarine, Azrael and cause a lot of damage to everything else around it.

All of my opponents were great and contributed to my super fun weekend.

Thoughts on the list. The Repulsors are fun but only good against the right match up. With Knights being so popular the lack of Invul really hurts the list and just makes them too easy to kill even with the Darkshroud. My 3rd game vs the Tyranids I should would have won if I just rushed forward and protected my infantry better since I had the weight of fire advantage.

All in all super fun but I think I'll have a break from Dark Angels next Tourney season (still play fun games with friends though) and shelf them until the Lion comes out and makes them competitive again.
