H&H! (aka Hi & Happy New Year!)

Hi! (we've got this out of the way to start with!)

and Happy New Year! (Kind of late into the month but this is the first post of the year in this subforum)

Long time Lurker decided to join the community to open a PLOG to keep the motivation going to assemble and paint 2500 points of Blood/Dark Angels!

I started collecting Warhammer in 3rd edition but never played much.
Recently decided to strip down the thick paint from all of my space marines and reassemble/paint them into something nice!

I'll share more in my plog.
Speaking of which: in which sub-forum should I create it?

Happy Gaming!

Thank you for your interest Fr33Dom,

I'll be painting a Blood Angels Successor Chapter (Name to be defined)

The theme of the army will be the broken sword of Sanguinius and will mix Blood Angels and Dark Angels iconography to represent it (the blood drop and the sword (sometimes broken) of the two armies)

What sub forum do you recommend me to creat a plog?

I'll go dark red as the main color of the army with black as secondary:

I'll airbrush the red on the armor and pick up details or break up surfaces in black.

Specifically: all wings will be painted black, gold trimmings and armors will be painted bronze. Death Company will be painted red as well with black robes or cloth bits to point out their belonging to the squad.

Thanks for stopping by!

Makes sense. Will you be trying Pre-highliting? I imagine it may work well with red on black base coat.

Im actually pretty excited to check these guys out. I was almost a ba player when i first started (red is my favorite color), but i got the da half of dark vengeance for free from my friend and so that sealed the deal.

Not familiar with this technique but I will look into it!

I started as a BA player, than got the DA ravenwing box for the bike goodies. I could have still gone all BA but two boxes of veterans, the dark vengeance half and the beautiful DA bits tempted me to mix the two armies!

They'll be painted and assembled as a cohesive force but on the tabletob I'll play them as two separate detachments (ravenwing and jumpers)

Sorry for the really late reply, following a news & rumor thread drowns out all your notifications haha

essentially, basecoat the mini with black. then. take a white or gray primer and spray every part that would be highlited (top of head, forearms, shoulders, maybe even the toes, tops of backpack) it should be somewhat precise. when you spray your red base coat (in thin coats) it should be highlighted.

pre shading is the same concept, but with shadows.

for big items like vehicles, dreads, you could try spraying grey, and preshading and prehighliting
