blackbabyjesus
Tail end of last year I painted a single space marine heroes model in the Lamenters colour scheme for a competition, it took 2 weeks... I said to myself at the time, don't do that again, but I'm an idiot so I'm doing more. It will NOT turn into a whole army. Probably. I'll use this thread to post updates and keep myself motivated. JDizzle
Great work man. Especially loving the more dulled-down yellow; looks closer to the imperial armour artwork, whilst remaining very striking. What was your recipe?? blackbabyjesus 1 Back to top
Brother Dallo
I'd forgotten how much I like that particular model. Phenomenal painting. Looking forward to seeing what else you do. Do you think you'll use them for gaming in Kill Team? Keep up the good work. Dallo blackbabyjesus 1 Back to top
MagicMan
Beautiful. Love Lamenters. Really nice work on the chapter symbol too. blackbabyjesus 1 Back to top
m0nolith
Absolutely stunning. I love the fact you're using the SM Heroes range for them. I always thought that the BA Tactical models were never right for the Lamenters, so the Heroes work fantastically well for them. I hope you expand your kill team into Series 2 as well if you get the chance. blackbabyjesus 1 Back to top

blackbabyjesus
Bit of work on the leather last night, trying my hand at glazing in other colours to give it some depth and texture. Radiation 1 Back to top

blackbabyjesus
I'd forgotten how much I like that particular model. Phenomenal painting. Looking forward to seeing what else you do. Do you think you'll use them for gaming in Kill Team? Keep up the good work. Dallo Hi Dallo, I will probably use them to play with yes, though Primaris seem much better in kill team than standard astartes. Great work man. Especially loving the more dulled-down yellow; looks closer to the imperial armour artwork, whilst remaining very striking. What was your recipe?? Hi JDizzle, thanks very much, I've taken my inspiration mostly from IA Vol 9. Recipe for the yellow is straightforward, but weird. I start with a black primer (yep, for yellow), then airbrush vallejo chocolate brown over it, I add vallejo ivory to the mix and airbrush the modulation on the panels until I'm spraying just very thin ivory. I then use AK interactive ivory (flows better than the vallejo when thinned) to edge highlight, once that's all finished I use the airbrush again to spray on GW Lamenters Yellow until the colour is pretty saturated. The yellow is pretty much done at that point, so I paint all the other details and then come back at the end with an all over gloss varnish and then a pin wash into the recesses with GW Agrax Earthshade Gloss (this stuff is like magic) which puts in the really dark shading in the panel lines etc. and blacklines some of the details to make them stand out (chest aquila etc). Update, 20th January; Did a bit more on him this evening, made a start on the chest Aquila, though I think it needs some more work. blackbabyjesus
Sloooooow progress! Have been trying something 'new' (new for me), glazing in colours to try and make metallics more interesting. I've gone for olive drab here, seems to have worked! AlanofAngels
Always loved Lamenters, and these look EXCELLENT! Really digging the left shin marksman markings and checkerboard patterns; stuff like that always adds a level of character/depth that's a big part of the hobby for some folks. Keep it up man! Bjorn Firewalker
Well done. What do the three suns on the Lamenter's left leg symbolize? That he killed three enemy champions? Or does it commemorate a certain campaign, maybe a battle fought in a three-sun star system?
