846th Combat Regiment

Good evening Generals.

I wanted to introduce myself and the unit. Starting a new army since the release of 8th. I played orks previously and am a glutton for punishment so I went with IG. I always said if I had to do it over again I would start with the Guard. So here they are.

I am Aleczander_G and this is my Regiment.

Looks great! Lovely paint scheme! Will there be any lore for your regiment?

Working on the lore portion as the force grows. Urban combat specialists. Originates from Cadia but has spent the majority of time since founding traveling the stars waging war on the emperors behalf. Spent some time training/fighting along side the Ultramarines (brothers army).

I am pretty proud of how this one turned out.

If anyone has a good line on where to get basilisk crew members and shells I'd be very appreciative.

Amazing paint job, if you have any tips on the weathering and painting it would be much appreciated (do you use an airbrush?).

In regards to crew and shells.

Tips on weathering: less is more and make it make sense. Add a bit then step back and take a look. If it looks good. Leave it. I also leave a lot of my mistakes when I'm weathering. Nothing is perfect and sometimes mistakes work better than the plan.

As far as airbrush works on this one I based it with an airbrush since it was snowing and didnt feel like using a rattle can. The light highlights are from an airbrush but you can just as easily do edge highlighting with a brush and be fine. Everything else is brush work.

  • 2 weeks later...

It seems that modifying a units designation while orders are in to the manufactorums can cause delays in production time. Not to worry, the shift commander in charge of production has a meeting scheduled with the Commissariat and has thing back on track, or almost. (Pun intended)

How do you do your black lining? I can never get mine to turn out so clean!

I have started spaying a thin coat of gloss varnish over the model then doing my wash and weathering and finishing it up with a matte varnish to seal it. The gloss varnish really helps the wash to flow into the recesses. The only problem with coming up with a new way to do vehicles is now I have to go back and redo all the old tanks to bring them up to date. Maybe one day they will make it back into the depot for refit.

It's all beautifully done stuff, even if I don't really personally dig the overcrowded Heavy Weapon teams.

Still, it's all wonderful.

Thank you. The HWT are a bit crowded but with the magnetized weapon options I figure it will be cheaper and more flexible in the long run. I still have the weapons to paint for the 2nd team, but since they are all currently being used and mortars I'm not really in a rush.
