I'd love to but I can never seem to fit them into any of my lists. They are basically just less durable Crisis Suits with less damage output but higher base mobility (not counting deep strike). Also I only have one and feel like you really have to use multiples to get any value out of them.

Their role would be either as a harassing unit or a mobile anti-tank unit. Now with BS4+ a single Fusion Blaster isn't that great and for a harassing unit we really already have enough of those (it's not like Firewarrior couldn't do the same thing from our deployment zone already lol).

So their only other role available would be mobile objective grabbing however I rarely had a problem getting to objectives a Piranha could get to due how cheap our basic infantry is, having enough units with infiltration and otherwise deep striking units to be fair.

Not really sure what they should do with them but the Firesight Marksman should stay separate. He's a spotter and spotter want to be hidden instead of racing across the board. Also important to note that Piranhas are operated by Firewarriors, not Pathfinders. So their role is really to fight stuff, not to scout and spot.

I actually liked the Seeker Missile spam formation from 7e. It was extremely cheesy but it gave them a purpose. So maybe focussing on those would be an idea. A special rule that lets them re-load a Seeker missile per turn if they are within 6" of a board edge maybe (no requirement to be stationary. They are supposed to be one of the most mobile units).

Though Seeker Missiles should be the Skyrays thing already so that's not quite the right approach either I fear.

I’ve used mine to accompany a cold star. It’s greater speed allows it keep pace (just about). Keeps the coldstar safe with the character key word, allowing the commander to wreck face from s safer position.

Another neat trick is to disengage the drones once your commander is in range, allowing saviour protocols.

Now this might not build the most competitive list, but it certainly gives a little life to the piranha.

Food for thought :)
