Eat some Worlds

Hello everybody,

I am Marko form Germany. I am quietly reading this forum for some time, but now I am trying fulfill my dream of a World Eater Army and I want share it with you.

I have been in the hobby for about 20 years and the most fun for me is kitbashing and converting miniatures (even a little bit more than playing the game). Painting whole armies has always been a rather annoying duty for me. I've learned a solid set of painting skills but it takes me forever to paint one miniature.

So my dream is to spend my spare time (besides family and work) with kitbashing and playing 40k and to leave the painting to an expert.

I always found CSM and especially World Eaters cool, but the models could never live up to my expectations. Since the appearance of the Khorne models for Age of Sigmar, the thought of making True Scale Berserkers has never let go of me.

My gaming group started a year ago preparing for a larger Chaos vs. Imperium campaign (only painted armies allowed).

That was the starting shot for me to finally really realize this dream project.

Since I knew that I would never get the army painted in time for the campaign start this spring, I found me an excellent hobby painter in a german forum who occasionally accepts commissions.

Fortunately for me, he also loves World Eaters and likes my conversions and therefore invests a little more time and love than he charges me.

All miniatures shown in this thread are converted by me but painted by (the incredible) Solmar.

PS:

Yes, this project is much too expensive and complicated... but unfortunately i love it... :rolleyes:

Expensive and complicated are the best ways to do an army in my opinion :biggrin.:

The World Eaters are looking AMAZING! Great work on the conversions, really impressive. I also know exactly what you mean about painting and am thinking of going th same route: have all the fun converting and leave the painting to someone who likes it.

Can't wait to see more Eaters and what you come up with for other, non-Power Armour units in the future

Then I took the snap fit Bloodwarrior from the AoS starter and combined it with Skullreaper legs and CSM Raptor bits to make more Berserkers:

Since I don't want to have open helmets, I exchanged the front sides for those of other Bloodwarriors.

In addition there was a champion I made out of one of the Gorechoosen Champions and so the next group of 5 was ready for painting.

In addition there was a kytan ravager from Forgewold.

The model is so great I didn't modify anything.

Hi, thanks a lot!

As I said before most of the credit goes to Solmar, but I wanted to share the project here because I myself profited a lot from the various ingenious conversion ideas shown here in the forum.

Man, these are awesome. The conversions are sweet.

Also, good to know the FW Rhino doors fit on the Mark IIb Land Raider :laugh.: Gives me a reason to get those for my World Eaters.

Also, you may not have painted them, but you did the hardest part of the work, the converting. That's something to be proud of. Hell, the unpainted shots of these guys are good. Not knocking Solmar's painting skills (he's clearly far better than I'll ever be :laugh.:), but what he did was take excellent gold and polish it :thumbsup:

One question: Where's that trapezoidal piece with all the skulls from?

Hello again and many thanks for the compliments!

(I will of course forward them to Solmar aswell)

@KrautScientist

Yes, it's me. I originally only wanted to update my thread in the GW-Fanworld, but since pictures are no longer displayed directly but only as links, it's no fun to document stuff there anymore.

But I still hope that the pictures will come back sometime in the GW-Fanworld and so I don't want to move to another german forum. Since I've been lurking and reading here for ages but was always too lazy to write in English, I took the opportunity to finally contribute something..

@Gederas

Thank you, and yes the rhino side doors fit exactly into the MKIIB side doors. The piece with the skulls is some random part of the Chaos Dreadhold which I bought as a seperat bit on ebay.

@steamius

The heads of the chain axes are from the original berserker kit riveted on to the shafts of the axes of the Bloodwarriors.

The original berserker chain axes are really hard to find. I have 4 from ebay and 10 from a friend's bitbox. These bits have to be guarded like a treasure.

Happy hunting bits for you!

The only other thing I can think of are the chain axes of Evil Craft miniatures, have you had a look at them?

Right now I'm making two rhinos for the rest of the berserkers.

I take my Landraider as a guideline and use the 30K Rhinos from Forgeworld as a starting point.

It is weekend!

So i had some time to work on my Rhinos.

Rhino1 is almost ready for painting but still needs a few rivets and minor Details.

I also slowly realize where I want to go with Rhino2

First off, it's people like you that make people like me want to build berzerkers. :)

You are quite the master modeler and your conversions and kit bashes are very inspirational. I love how Solmar has painted your figures.

I was going to ask you how you did your red as it is very obviously red, desaturated in color, but looks very realistic. The red itself  seems to have almost a rust-like quality to it, if that makes sense. Not from a color perspective, but as if it has a texture.

Please continue good sir, you and Solmar are doing some amazing things.

Cheers,

Damn, the customization looks impressive, even in this incomplete state. Is this a command vehicle, decorated at a Warlord's orders? Or are the "decorations" really mutations, and the vehicle subject to Daemonic possession? (The latter would explain the lack of exhaust pipes- the Daemon exhales via non-mechanical means.)

@Bjorn Firewalker

Thanks a lot!

I honestly said I hadn't thought about it until now. I just try to build cool rhinos.

The exhaust pipes are coming back... only the 'brass' fitting was still wip.

I have finished one side panel now completely, so we have a better idea how the Rhino will look like.

@Honda

I have not the faintest idea how Solmar is painting that red.

But I'll ask him for you.
