Novels featuring Fabius Bile?

Recommended Posts

I have recently introduced the missus to Warhammer 40k and she loves Fabius Biles character, she has read Primogenitor and Clonelord and I have mentioned the heresy novels featuring him and the Emperors Children up to Angel Extermanatus, but I have lost track of the Heresy series and not sure of any other 40k era stories featuring Fabius, could you fellows help me out please and let me know of any other novels featuring Fabius (or Lucius)?

Fabius appears in Talon of Horus, but I can’t recall where he features in the Heresy post- Angel Exterminatus, if at all

Lucius has a few shorts and a nol of his own- Lucius:The Faultless Blade and that is rather good.

Fabius appears for a bit in The Faultless Blade, though his story impact is pretty big. He's only at the end of Talon, and has a few lines at best (Fabius monologues everything you need to know about his appearance there in Clonelord anyway.) To make sure you haven't missed anything, his significant Heresy outings are:

Fulgrim: The Palatine Phoenix > Fulgrim > The Reflection Crack'd > Angel Exterminatus

Can't recall when Chirurgeon takes place. Apparently he's a baddy in one of Swallow's Blood Angels books.

The Reynolds material is really his only showing of that depth and quality.

As you'd not mentioned it explicitly: Flight of the Eisenstein has him in. :)

There's also the short audio: https://www.blacklibrary.com/audio/warhammer-40000-audiobooks/repairer-of-ruin-mp3.html which is Reynolds, so sure to be a hit.

He's also done the two shorts: Prodigal and Memory of Tharsis.

If you want to spend a lot of money, getting your hands on the limited edition of Primogenitor might be a very special present of some significance.

Of all the special editions, I think it's amongst the finest. Depending on her thoughts on physical stuff/artefacts/tat around her accommodation, it could be a big hit. (Or an expensive irrelevance!)

Bile is just a great and charismatic villain you can put in many different stories easily. Partly because he could appear anywhere due his researches or Harlequin shenanigans (seriously, what's their problem?) but also partly because the author doesn't really have to be careful with him. He's not the best fighter which also varies depending on the state of his current body (not a pushover either though), can come with anything between a few tough Marines or a horde of Newmen as retinue and even if he gets killed he isn't necessarily dead.

But yeah the only two novels really focussing on him are the Primogenitor and the Clonelord ones. Fantastic novels and I'd love to get more of those but I doubt it'll happen anytime soon.

Let me add my stamp of approval to the Primogenitor special edition. It's the only BL special I felt compelled to buy, and it was worth it. A fine book, and a fine special edition. Along with that, there was an art print of the Primogenitor cover, when they were doing things like that still. It looks great on my wall. Sadly, along with killing the special editions with their frequency and overproduction, the art prints seem to have gone away as well. If you can track it down, it's well worth it.

I have a feeling he is in something random, like the ultramarines sequel, and it turns out there are shed tons of his own clones around (so the characters think they have killed the real slim shady many times). It was years ago I read it though.

Your point is?

That there is justification for the Harlequins to put him on Eldar's Most Wanted List, below Abaddon

The research of both Bile and Ahriman can affect the balance of power in the Galaxy!

A Cloned Emperor infused with Chaos would be almost unstoppable

Harlequins don't have something like a most wanted list though. They have their weird prophetic plays that can go in any direction. Bile also cut most ties with the Emperor's Children and is despised by most of them (crunch-wise he doesn't even have the Emperor's Children keyword).

Plotspoiler: The Harlequins and few EC tried to pull Bile back into the legions schemes and to set him up as leader of the EC which he almost let happen before he realised that it would prevent him from doing his researches. Also Bile wouldn't clone the emperor and infuse it with chaos. He's not 'serving' chaos, he's just using it for his own purposes. He isn't even really interested in cloning primarchs anymore and even modifying Marines is just a 'hobby' serving his lust for perfection. His main goal is to perfect his New Men which are supposed to conquer and populate the galaxy and take over from Marines as the dominant human variant. To him Marines are an outdated product. A weapon that has served its time but with no future.

Bile is cloning the Emperor though it's taking him longer than expected

The Chaos Gods can engineer schemes that involve Bile's experiments one way or another

(His Cloned Daemon Daughter can manipulate him for the Dark Gods)

(Even if Bile doesn't clone the Emperor for Chaos, Chaos can/will force the clone or Bile to work for them)

(Slave to Darkness after all. If the Chaos Gods can scatter the Primarchs in front of the Emperor's face, then they can turn Bile into a Chaos Spaan the instant they want)

Bile's production of geneseed helps bolster the ranks of Chaos Space Marines

Bile's participation in the attack of Craftworld Lugganath killed thousands of Eldar and damned many Eldar souls to Slaanesh

The Chaos Gods scattering the Primarchs ~= Psychic Phenomena, or a 'Miscast', or a 'Success, but with complications'. A Peril of the Warp.

The Primarchs project was a huge piece of psychic engineering, amongst other things.

You can attribute it to the Will of the Gods (cousin of Mark of Calth?), but it can equally be framed as the Emperor messing things up.
