Hey, I'm new here. I recently (ok, half a year ago...) started dusting off my old wolves and began thinking about a list. I actually never really played, but would like to hear what you think. I'd like to combine Wolves with Guard both for gameplay and my own fluff reasons, because I got a little narrative in my head. I always kind of liked the idea of basilisks just being posted way behind and giving fire support. Don't know if they are particulary good though. Would Something like this work in General? Grey hunters would be in the razorbacks, blood claws in the rhino and the Wulfen on the hunt,of course. Unfortunately battlescribe messed up the detachements for some reason, but I think you'll get it anyway. Skลl, Ranulf.

You are short on ranged anti tank. 2 russes and 2 basilisks I count. Battlecannons are not great anti tank. They are more a jack of all trades type of gun. Maybe try to squeze some lascannon's in those infantry squads.

Thanksfor the reply, I will keep that in mind. Maybe add in some longfangs and reduce the Guard element/ lose one Russ. As I said, my actual gaming experience is non-existent, so every hint might help ๐Ÿ™‚.

There is only one cure for that... get out there and play some. Don't expect to win much at first, goal is to learn the game and have fun. After a while, you get some more insight in how the game works. Good luck! And keep us posted with what you come up with

Are you building you list like this intentionally with a blended detachment or was there a whoopsie with Battlescribe?

No, it's not intentional. The detachements are separate while I edit the list, but when I try to post it here, this happens ๐Ÿ˜…. I'll correct it once I'm on my laptop.

Looks more or less decent to me. 3+ save infantry models are not really the greatest option around right now, but for a SW army is looks ballanced. Still, it's not just the list that win's the game. It's the person playing it. ;)

Tank Commanders are useless, they are a character with over 10 wounds and cannot hide they will be easy targets.

Iโ€™d always go 4 TH/SS on Wulfen makes them more survivable. Wulfen also struggle footslogging so give them a Stormwolf.

Iโ€™d also loose the meltaguns on the GH if they havenโ€™t got a delivery method to get in range.

Also over changed plasma cannons are more effective on long Fangs, especially as you get reroll ones for free!

I see what you mean, for me the tank commander was just a tank with better bs. Yeah stormwolves are pretty cool in deed, but don't they tend to get shot down quickly as well ๐Ÿค”?
I don't know about plasma cannons in long fangs though, aren't las cannons still tool numero uno to deal with heavy hitters? Plus the 48" range let's the fangs sit back more comfortably?

You do make a good point about range on the lascannons but if you do the maths 4d3 plasmacannon shots (overcharged and rerolling 1s) does better than 4 lascannon shots. Then just spend a CP to reroll failed wounds

Lascannon vs plasma is really up to you. Both have benefits over the other. Plasma has more shots so can double as a anti infantry, lascannons have more range so it is easy'r to keep them out of range of you'r opponent.

You are right about taking a single flyer. I solve this problem by taking 2 flyers. But than again, my lists are a bit weird so.

Well for plasma there would also be Hellblasters as an alternative. 3 pts more with the rapid fire gun, but better ap and 2 wounds. But no access to the Long Fangs' special tricks. So I guess you would have to do the re-roll bubble thing, which might not be playing to the wolves advantage... Opinions on that ๐Ÿ™‚?

Most of the time the extra AP is wasted due to targets having low saves or a inv. save. They pour out the same amount of firepower but the hellblasters need to get within 15" to do so, their Long Fang cousins can the same but from 36" away.

The only way to get that second shot is to send them on the hunt (because they would get shot of the board of trying to footslog). Also, the need babysitting if they want to overcharge their plasma save. Long fangs don't need that babysitting and on top of it all have an amazing stratagem that allows you to reroll failed wounds.

It's a shame because I really love the models, but their just not worth their points i.m.o.
