Regiment for super heavies?

Valhallan keeps your tanks going so is very useful. Vostroyan for +1 to hit strat is amazing.

Cadian re-rolling 1s is decent as is catachan re-rolling shots.

If it is in a supreme command or you take 3 then I would go valhallan. If you take 1 in auxiliary then I would go vostroyan.

Hope that helps

Catachan plus Harker always seemed like a good combination to me. Only ran one once, as Cadian, and hated how I had to stay still to get the bonus instead of being able to get better firing lines or make use of his combat abilities. The one time I faced one it was Vostroyan, which made it a threat even after I shot it into its last bracket.

I used to say Vostroyans had the best Super Heavies, but with all the knights on the field these days if you're not going Tallarn to throw it in reserve, you're probably not getting much use out of it sad to say.

It depends what one you're going for.

Cadian is great for stationary shooting, especially against Chaos or with OFOF.

But it will be useless if it's mainly used for a multi turn moving transport. Though a stationary Stormlord with lots of heavy weapons teams inside would be an amazing firebase.

Catachan is best for any that will be charging headfirst into the enemy lines. Want to surprise the enemy? Get a Catachan HellHammer with 4 Sponsons of Twin Linked Flamers full of 38ish Catachans, Straken, and a Priest, and hurl it down the center. You can reroll number of shots for one of each twin linked flamer, as well has the hellhammer cannon, and demolisher cannon. The enemy wouldn't dare charge it, and even if they do the flamers can even fire at the enemy while stuck in combat. Next turn unload everyone and charge in.

Valhallans are good if you expect it to get shot at a lot (but still survive) as it's BS doesn't degrade as quickly.

Tallarn is good if you expect it to get destroyed turn 1, as you can deepstrike it and bring it in turn 2 to shoot.

Mordian is good for overwatching, they can hit on a 4+ with the strategem, but if you're bringing flamers that's a moot point.

Vostroyan extra range is not that great, +1 to hit stratagem is pretty good.

Storm Troopers is too rare an occurrence of being anything useful to rely on.

I've run three super-heavies before and I cannot picture myself taking them without catachan. 3 means that the worst case is really getting to use two of them for a turn or two. The extra shots + Harker really show off in that environment. It is hard to deny their effectiveness in this situation. Plus, their ability to suddenly pull off melee with a convenient Crush Them! and Harker nearby is hilarious. Wiped out a big squad of those Dark Eldar wannabe aspect warriors once that way and the other player clearly did not expect it from the look on his face.

No Love for Steel legion?

Krash

Steel legion is quite situational, but is fantastic vs some common and decent anti-tank weapons such as the loota-bomb and armiger Helverines. But will do nothing vs quite a lot of anti tank weapons.

I love the armageddon Steel legion, but feel that the other doctrines come in to play more often.
