i have a large Crimson Fist army and i recently got a big box of primaris marines. I started thinking should i paint the new marines my favorite shade of blue or try something different. I was thinking Imperial Fist but i would loose the flexibility of combine the two armies in the future.

i need some advice; is a pure primaris army competitive? is there that much difference between Crimson and Imperial Fist?

Crimson fists got new rules in the january's White Dwarf, so they are different right now.

Also, right now primaris armies don't have much options, maybe in the future when they release new units they can be competitive as a standalone army. I'd paint them CF for the sake of having an even larger army, unless you want another army from scratch (maybe BA/DA/SW?, to not follow only the SM codex)

I've seen some pretty successful Primaris armies built on target saturation of armoured threats. You won't be seeing Primaris at top tables of the LVO, but they're totally viable in most other cases.

The new Crimson Fist specialist detachment is pretty fun with a neat way to build a solid firebase that only needs one buff character to babysit it, can fire back outside of the shooting phase, and add some extra pain when rolling unmodified hit rolls of 6s. It's CP hungry to unlock, but most marine armies don't have many realiable Stratagems to use anyway.

There's a guy on the Blood Angels forum who ran pure Primaris  with three Repulsor's and kicked a lot of surprisingly strong armies in the teeth. I'd say they have a lot of potential to do well.

I do have good size Black Templar army just not sure fluff wise how primaris would fit in.

As do I and up till now have kept Primaris an Imperial Fists attachment  to my crusade for similar reasons. That being said, I've opted to  build out and paint one squad of Intercessors as Templars to represent a squad who has volunteered to undergo the Primaris treatment as an experiment. The idea isn't my invention, but I liked the sound of it so am borrowing.

For the most part though, I am keeping the Primaris figures as a separate attachment.

Basically, I think you have plenty of options and a combined crusade with all of Dorn's sons will look equally amazing.

Go big, go Dorn!

I was wondering, has anyone seen how the Crimson Fist are structuring their companies since they are back to "full" strength? Are there pure primaris companies or are they all mixed companies? Do they still not identity their company on the armor?

Its funny I was in the same position wondering if I should build out primaris with my first marine army or start a new one. Crimson fists are going to be my new mainly primaris force. I personally dont think you can go wrong whatever you choose.
