Gone with ravenwing as it’s a concept I feel the most comfortable with from previous iterations of 40k Dark Angels when men were men and bikes were troops. Javelin Attack Speeder, Legion: Multi-melta, Twin-linked Cyclone missile launcher Primaris-Lightning Strike Fighter [230pts]: 2x 2x Kraken Penetrator Heavy Missiles, Battle Servitor Control, Ground-tracking Auguries, Twin-linked Lascannon Xiphon Interceptor [215pts]: Ground-tracking Auguries, 2x Twin-linked Lascannon + Allegiance + Legion and Allegiance: I: Dark Angels, Loyalist Rite of War: Ravenwing Protocol ++ Total: [2500pts] ++ I know it might seem spammy to some, but hear me out on my reasoning and do take into account the severe unit choice restrictions Ravenwing protocol demands Theory is to use the outriders as the bulked out dash and slash combat units and objective cappers, while the jetbikes are split up for MSU towards Covenant and provide firesupport. They can also tag team with the bikes for objective contesting. Speeders are on dual Anti tank/anti infantry duties, while the Primaris is there as a nod towards Spartan/Land Raider lists and the Xiphon gives me some AA cover while also pulling double duty sniping tanks. Command squad is fully bulked out for smashing face, with the primus backing the praetor’s unit and bike apothecaries bulking out the outriders. I’ve gone for 2xfist and 3xSwords, with the Praetor lending the AP2 at initiative strikes. Should I consider forgoing the swords on the chosen and go for unwieldy Axes to follow up their voted lieutenant? Looking to build a bit of an all comers list that’ll set me up in good stead as an objective to work towards before tinkering from there for the meta, all criticism is most welcome. Spiritual Liege Posted February 6, 2019 Share Posted February 6, 2019 Have you considered regular bikes in stead of jetbikes for your Command Squad? Those Scimitars are incredibly expensive, making your 1 wound models cost 60+ points, and as Command Squads already have a 2+ save, they pay for it twice when taking jetbikes. And whatever bike you choose, definitely take combat shields as well. That 5+ invulnerable is invaluable. Also, an iron halo is essential for your Praetor, instead of a combat shield. Looking over the feedback from the tactica thread and previous lists, it seems the overall consensus on RW protocol is that being able to effectively ignore terrain while making a bee-line for a unit to assault is a must have. I’m open to change that though. As for the combat shields and iron halo, if I keep the jetbikes as per the above, where would you trim the points? Cut down to a single speeder? Laughingman Posted February 19, 2019 Share Posted February 19, 2019 Maybe worth noting, per the Dark angels special rules you can swap your power swords for Calibanite warblades (+1S AP3 weapons) for free... Meaning you wound on 3+ against T4 MEQs... Edit: its any Character can take a Calibanite blade (which I assume includes both independent and non-independent characters, making them less useful but still relevant)....
