New AdMech/Rogue Trader models revealed at Toy Expo

So new board game, which looks quite interesting. The models are supposedly able to be used in Blackstone Fortress as well, which is awesome... you think the characters will be usable for 40k as well? They did it with the BSF characters for Kill Team and 40k. So why not Combat Arena characters too?

That Tech-Priest, Daedalus, looks like a healthy mix between Skitarii and Tech-Priest... maybe he could be the potential answer to our request of a Skitarii HQ? Just speculation and wishful thinking, by the way.

So a pistol version of the eradication ray weapon, an interesting looking device on a servo arm with a handle suggesting it still needs a hand to activate while the arm holds it in position plus what looks like an omnispex.

And the servitors shoulder weapon looks to be a lighter version of a familiar weapon too.

All of the miniatures in this game are excellent but the Mechanicus models are simply fantastic. I'm not really interested in the game itself, so here's hoping they see a general release as stand-alone kits in grey plastic. It's somewhat unconventional but I don't mind if GW keeps trickling out updates for the AdMech line in this manner before they get a 'proper' update at some point in the future. We all know the line needs fleshing out and I have no doubt it's going to happen but it's hard to tell how important AdMech is in the hierarchy of the future projects; I suspect they're not on the top of the pile but the trickle of new releases tells me that they're still serious about continuing to support the line.

Yes, it's an odd situation where GW aren't getting round to filling in gaps in our range but are content to keep releasing tech priests and the robot from Blackstone Fortress. I hope this means they really enjoy making models for the range. I find it interesting that this tech priest seems to have an Electro-Priest like loincloth thingy and similarly chunky boots. I think the little eradication blaster looks really nice too.

I'm starting to get wishlisty. It would be great to see Delphan Gruss turn up in 28mm sometime, since he had a fantastic model from the old Inquisitor game.

Hmmm let’s list up that trickle, from a variety of releases the trickle includes:

Mechanicus Robot (disguised Man of Iron, but we can use it in kill team)

Mechanicus ammo boxes

Mechanicus cylinder container

Mechanicus mini-void shield objective

Mechanicus statue

Mechanicus ruined statue

Mechanicus Intact Ryza pattern building

Mechanicus manufactorum ruins

Mechanicus Sector terrain damaged stuff

Mechanicus Manipulus

Mechanicus Servitor

Mechanicus Daedalosus Techpriest

I think that’s everything that’s overtly ad-mech in markings though I can’t recall if the new tracked variant medical Servitor has a cog on it’s tracks which would add it to the list. I didn’t count the new Aquila energy fence field projectors though many of us will use them just because of the lack of cog markings. And while many of those can be used by other factions too they are placing the Mechanicus more clearly into imperial aesthetics... actually...

The consoles and some doors in the Rogue Trader shuttle have Mechanicus markings too.

The Tectonic Fragdrill also is Mechanicus by design as well, especially when designed so the drill can be hooked up to a Servohauler.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some things I’ve missed.

So that’s quite a lot of terrain, a number of objectives items and 4 new characters. Quite the trickle.

When you put it that way that's a lot of of Mechanicus stuff. I wasn't actually counting the terrain since it's Imperial terrain one way or another. When you do count it that's quite a lot! The only problem with that is what army do you assign to the Wall of Martyrs range? Or the Imperial Bastion? Are they Astra Militarum? What about space marines? Please don't interpret this post as being needlessly picky but I'm not sure it's fair to assign all industrial themed terrain to this army. At this point our army has almost as many terrain pieces as actual battlefield units!

Oh sure terrain is to an extent unfactioned, but if we look historically terrain has had a lot less cogs etc. from the cardboard and plastic of 2nd edition onwards the first piece of clearly mechanicus terrain was the first ruined manufactorum that accompanied the 2nd version of cityfight, 1 of 4 imperial terrain kits (and pre-dating mechanicus armies by many years admittedly). Then there was.... nothing more for years and years. Imperial terrain marked with Aquila was standard. So that was what, one kit over 30 years?

The wall of martyrs stuff is I’d say indeed guard-focussed both in theme (trench warfare) and detail what with all the Cadian corpses and gear everywhere.

Now suddenly a vast array of the terrain kits have overt Mechanicus symbols on them. Kits any faction could use sure but it’s still a much larger presence of our factions iconography.

Buildings, industrial machinery and superstructure, objectives, it’s now possible to fight over a diverse table where everything is Mechanicus themed with hardly an Aquila to be seen. That’s something many factions beyond guard (and once catachans back when the jungle trees were a thing) and generic imperial can claim.

So I think it shows GW’s design team have our faction in their minds a lot more.

With these new models coming and the Manipulus and Robot we’ve gone from 3 characters Dominus, Enginseer, Datasmith to 6 plus a plastic servitor.

At this point my confidence we’ll get a flyer and transport is strong.

Theyre alll wicked models, and interesting to see what the games like, if its dead fast to pick up and play through I can see me playing it.

The servitor and priest will get definate places in my list...and I like the fact the crusader guy looks kind of skitarrii-ish too, give him a matching colour scheme and he could look very nice leading a bridage of vanguard....even if there are no rules for it :)

Great stuff GW

The question is whether these will be repackaged for BSF or that you buy this and use rules added later on? As much as I want these models I do not want to buy two sets of them, except the servitor!
