Deathwatch and vanguard space marines

So far they've been trying to be cute on the FB page when it comes to DW, despite saying that BA/DA/SW will "100%" get it. Maybe we have to just wait for the multi-part boxes to come out like we did with Dark Imperium. If that's the case and we do get access, the infiltrators should get SIA, but it seems silly to expect the snipers to get it considering they already use their own special ammo.

Eliminators are something I think will fit Deathwatch very well. A small, reasonably cheap unit (some rumours have them at about 20pts per model) that can pummel characters, even out of LOS, that can also sit on backfield objectives? Very nice.

Don't get your hopes up lads, they keep reiterating on FB that all first founding and successor chapters can 100% take them, but no word on Deathwatch. So that doesn't sound too optimistic, at least for this release.

Probably because DW will only get some of the units and not all.

Rather than try to explain it completely they're being cryptic for the moment.

I'd be willing to be that the Captain, Librarian, Infiltrators, Suppressors, and Eliminators will be available eventually.

That's my guess. DW doesn't get the lieutenant or captain in gravis armor. I believe that's it. Otherwise everything from the primaris line is available for DW. I would imagine it's similar, captain, librarian, and the other lot will be allowed into the DW and the librarian won't make the cut. Possibly the modified boltguns will get SIA.

Or I'm totally wrong and DW completely miss out. But a infiltrator character with beacon angelis would be awesome.

I don't think we will get any of them until they are released as multi part kits. And even when that happens, I don't think we will get the captain of librarian because their left shoulder pad is not removable to swap out for a Deathwatch pad. Same might be true of the snipers due to their camo cloaks covering much of their left shoulder pad.

If they do, do you think they can be put into an intercessor squad?

Or will they have a new Infiltrator squad?

It'll be interesting to see if there's more to the whole vanguard wave besides just different load outs (like how aggressors/reivers came out after DI), maybe they will be their own new kill team. They all get the concealed positions and start with 5 infiltrators and can add in the others (snipers would probably be like hellblasters without any extra rules, and suppressors would add the suppressing fire rule).

Just a guess but the Fortis integration would probably take a Codex update.

I think the troops weuld be fantastic as an option, but otherwise I really don’t know how much of this I would use with DW

The community page shows blood angel space wolf and dark angel variants of the vanguard marines. The other units are also mentioned in the same article implying all these units at least are available across all adeptus astartes codex. I wouldn't count on sia though, that tends to increase the model cost by 1pt which will be a little complicated for an out of codex release imo.

There's a Facebook post floating around where the WH40K account confirmed DA, BA,and SW but said no to Deathwatch and Grey Knights at this time.

Edit:

Found the post with the screenshot from Reddit.

Maybe a Phobos Kill Team?  Thanks to the gift DW is supposed to have an large contingent of Primaris.  Both tithe from most chapters(and every chapter that got primaris), as well as the large group of greyshields given to DW directly(i suspect these are the traitor chapter primaris that Cawl asked Rowbooty about).

Were DW able to use primaris marines immediately? I would suspect DW get some of these choices eventually if only to wait for the full multipart release.

DW are a tough one because of the mixed units and such, but no doubt they'll see an update eventually. A "Vanguard" Kill Team would be awesome though... All the Sneaky Beakies in one squad (...plus Suppressors).

If I was an ambitious man, I'd say Eliminators would get different ammo for DW, but I am not so they'll just stay the same but maybe get some mods because it is a bolt weapon.

We won't get them until the full kit with separate shoulder pads is released. Same as how it was for the other Primaris.

Until then I'm not quite sure what these guys add to the DW if I'm honest. Vanguard seem best at dealing with infantry and light vehicles, both of which Deathwatch can already take down handily. Anti tank is the biggest hole in this army. If the full-part Suppressor kit has a las cannon of some sort... now we're talking.

Guess it depends on if they make their own "Phobos" kill team or are added to Fortis kill teams, and additionally what benefits the models confer from their inclusion.

I can see the 2nd option for Suppressors being a Las-Talon, the Infiltrators having 3 Bolt Carbine options (6s auto wound, target characters, ignore cover) and the Eliminators possibly having a Missile Launcher option. Reivers should also be given the PHOBOS keyword.

As to what benefits they give in a PHOBOS kill team? Concealed positions / smoke grenades / Helix Adept makes sense and I think would add a lot to a kill team. But not sure about Suppressors and Eliminators. Maybe the eliminators give +1 save in cover and the suppressors give nothing beyond their weapon, like Hellblasters.
