Pre-game options in tournaments. (WL traits, powers, strats)

Hey guys.

Simple question here.

What do the big tournaments (LVO, NOVA, Adepticon etc) require on lists for pregame choices?

There are loads of strats that are chosen pregame.

Powers and WL traits are supposed to be chosen pregame too, but there have been some tournaments that require you to do this for the entire duration of the tournament and have it noted on your list.

How do you guys play it locally? And how do the big tournaments play it?

Thanks in advance.

I dont play tournaments...that being said

Relics & any strats that allow relics or change of formations /keywords are done locally in the list build phase... Normally pick the WL & Powers at this point as well because of how people expect /want to use them.

How ever if some one wants to change the WL, relics & Powers pre-game then yeah go for it... How ever in a tournament or tournament prep game I wouldnt allow you to after you've seen my army! (no tailoring to suit the forces against you...)

Though I totally get that, and would think its common to choose your stuff after getting your opponent, but potentially before list swap..... surely thats not up to you?

I mean, surely that's up to how /when the TO has declared its done?  (Which is essentially the question)

Most of the larger tournaments are a little different in each of their methods.

LVO only needed to have what character was your warlord set in list building, so trait/relic etc could be changed per game. Also LVO wanted any Vigilus formations used as part of list building as well.

ETC tourney packs:

GW GT:

uses 1750 pts and missions from CA2018. Also uses bigFAQ1 and bigFAQ2 and all errata from https://www.warhammer-community.com/faqs/

ITC tourney packs:

That's the biggest three metas.

Do note that some events use modified versions of the above rulesets and sometimes even their own rules.

This, from the ETC was helpful (thanks).

MODIFIED PRE-GAME INTERACTIONS
Follow this procedure to start your games at the ETC:
1. Roll off for who places first objective
2. The player winning the roll off now selects his warlord trait. His opponent then does the same
3. The player having won the roll off chooses his psychic powers. His opponent then does the same
4. The player having won the roll off chooses if he will spend CP’s for stratagems to purchase extra relics for
any of his characters. His opponent then does the same.
5. Start placing objectives
6. Roll off for who chooses sides
7. Whoever did not choose side starts to deploy his first unit
8. Alternate deploying until done
9. Roll off for who starts, applying a +1 for whomever finished deploying first. In the case of re-rolling ties,
the +1 still applies to any re-rolls that might occur.
10. Roll to seize the initiative
11. Pre-game deployment
12. Players announce their remaining available command points and clearly mark this somewhere for their
opponent to keep track of d
