On the one hand, I can totally support finding a custode or terminator or elite unit in kill team, especially in arena where the installation aspect and door opening can lead to more natural surprises. The appearance of navaradan in carrion throne comes to mind.

But the thing is, I can't actually imagine the point of custodes being in kill team. They have no flexibility in terms of weapon options and there can't be more than three per kill team (otherwise were saying a lictor is worth as many points as a custodian). That extremely low model count and few ranged options will be an extremely boring and undynamic list to play. And I'm saying this with a few thousand points of them.

Now maybe they'll get some really cool tactics or specialisms to represent how they're the most elite warriors he imperium can produce outside the primarch project. Maybe they'll be coupled with sisters of silence for that original talons feel. But I doubt it, and can't really see them being anything other than spoiler lists for people who don't own the models to just shoot them.

I still don´t get why they gotta cram something like custodes into KT...

It´s mostly guerilla styled warfare, hide in shadows and wait, not show in battleplate that screams: "I´M HERE, SHOOT ME!"

The Custodes Blood Games would imply that they would be some of the best infiltrators out there despite the gold.

See, that's where you're wrong.

They use the classic DnD mechanic I like to call "strength based stealth,"

Giant golden being out of myth just announces loudly enough "YOU DON'T SEE ME." and everyone else, wisely realizes they see nothing.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Hmmm no mention of what Mechanicus will get for our elites.

I wonder what it will be.

I would be so happy if that turns out to be true. Sadly I feel like those goofy Electro Priests are more likely. down.gif

I also expect to see Electro-priests.

The intriguing one to me is Harlequins, since the Skyweavers is the only non-Vehicle/non-Character unit in the codex other than the Troupe. So bikes are definitely in. And come to think of it, the only real option for GSC addition is their bikes.

Actually, just to sketch out possibilities - and I'm also figuring we'll see some new Commander options as well, the article shows a Ta'u Enforcer Commander. And this isn't my guess as to a definitive list, but more the pool of possibilities.

Adeptus Astartes/Deathwatch: Definitely the new Vanguard stuff and Terminators from what they have shown; some kind of limited access to Hellblasters would be nice; maybe Assault Marines. If Commanders are included, then at least a few of the HQ versions of the above.

Grey Knights: Paladins, Interceptors, Purifiers.

Astra Miliatrum: They showed us a Bullgryn, and gotta figure Ogryn are def in as well; Veterans and Ratlings are really the only other possibilties unless they start dipping in Ministorum and other Auxillia.

Adeptus Mechanicus: Kataphron and Electro-priests.

CSM: Terminators, Possessed, Chosen, Raptors, Warp Talons. Less likely possibilties include Spawn, Berzerkers, Noise Marines. I would have said Oblits before the Shadowspear reveal :)

Death Guard: Blightlords, Plaguecaster

Thousand Sons: Scarab Occult, Tzaangor Enlightened, Tzaangor Shaman

Asuryani: Wraithblades and Scorpions confirmed, and figure Wraithguard will be there alongside the 'blades; pretty much any of the Aspects, Windriders

Drukhari: They showed us the Grotesque, I'll eat a grot if they don't have Wracks; Scourges, Hellions, Reavers, Mandrakes, Incubi, Beastmasters and pals, Court of the Archon

Harlequins: Skyweavers are the only real option

Necrons: Lycheguard, Triarch Praetorians, Tomb Blades

Orks: Flash Gitz are the new box; Meganobs, Warbikerz, Stormboyz

T'au Empire: With them showing the Enforcer Commander, standard Crisis obviously

Tyranids: Ravagers, Pyrovores, Biovores, Venomthropes, Zoanthropes

GSC: Atlan Jackals, any of the new characters as Commanders

They're using commanders to fill the void for some otherwise awkward elites. So harlies will get the solitaire; gsc maybe the kelemorph or assassin guy; nids idk, they got nothing left.

I extremely doubt there's going to be any biker units

So we'll have

Killteam (troops)

Killteam: Commanders (adds HQs)

Killteam: Elites (adds ELITEs)

Mhh... one could theorise that something like

Killteam: heavy guns (adds heavy support units)

and

Killteam: fast assault (adds fast attack units)

may be next for expansions.

I, for one, wouldn't mind a full plastic box of platoon commander, comissar, ministorum priest and regimental advisors for astra militarum.

We'll probably get ogryns or ratlings instead though.

Kill Team: Space Hulk is now a kitbashable reality!

My thoughts exactly.

If this expansion comes with another max points increase, and combined with Comanders(and hopefully Elites has rules for how to use Commanders rules with these new units), think about how many more points a nid or GSC player will have to spend on swarms of basic units.

also let's hope that this is a sign that we'll be getting updated/rescaled Terminator kits alongside the basically confirmed Chaos ones.

the only downside I see is that if they get upscaled to much those special event terminators I bought(the supper fancy Chaplin and captain with wrist mounted grenade launcher) at the Warhammer Citadel's opening day will be out of scale with the rest... so maybe I need to buy some of the current Terminators to use in an all Termi-team so they look in scale to each other with no normal or Primaris around to make them look tiny.

I throughly looking foward to KT:Elites, loving that you can take Terminators which will shake a few things up in the game.

Striking Scorpions are a very welcome addtion to Aeldari. Though im a bit upset that Sisters arent included yet, i know that their Codex isnt out yet, but he beta codex is, though will they come out when Inquisition rules come out.

And the new Elites boxsets, the TS im most happy about, looks sweet, wonder at the extra terrain youll get is?

Overall though will make the game fun and exciting as i see it

I don't think there's ever been complaints, all kill team rules whether the last or previous 3rd party rules have always discounted terminators, as clearly small gang skirmishes is not the place for overcosted/over-pointed units

GW are just doing the standard here, next it will be fast attack and heavy, thus whaddya know newguys, you've built a 40k army! just in time for 9th edition.

If Scourges are in then I might buy my first ever Dark Eldar minis.

And I already have some Mentor Legion TDA so it’ll be nice to be able to use some. I do hope TDA and Custodians are sufficiently expensive that they’re always very badly outnumbered.

There is some units from Heavy Support (Eliminators) and Fast Attack (Suppressors) for the SM and SM had from the start a unit (Reivers) that was already a Élite one (and GSC has élite units too like aberrants, purestrain, metamorphs)
So i don't think this expansion Will focus totally on elite units but rather Will just introduce units that are not the core of each faction (for example they said that every faction Will get something and if we look closely GSC lacks only bikers that are fast Attack and harlequins starweavers that are fast Attack too of we don't consider elite characters that are more clearly in the Commander role than in the élites role)

I still don´t get why they gotta cram something like custodes into KT...

It´s mostly guerilla styled warfare, hide in shadows and wait, not show in battleplate that screams: "I´M HERE, SHOOT ME!"

I don't want the custard boys because they are movie Marines and diminish every other faction. It would be like bringing Knights to Killteam.

While full-size Knights would be, um, difficult to accommodate in KT, I could see a heavy support themed expansion where Armigers (and Dreadnoughts, wraith-lords, Carnifexes etc) can be fielded in “monster hunt” type scenarios.

Heralds of Ruin is THE most popular kill team rules after GW mostly dropped support for KT and it allowed you to field everything from Sternguard to Deathwing Knights.

yeah, an option where you have a lone super sized unit go up against a whole team would be a neat option; bring back firing arcs, different armor values for front/sides/rear, turning/facing rules for movement, and so on to help balance out having such a powerful unit.

Some people like the idea of small squad combat. I'm one of them. When KT first came out I tried all sorts of fluffy lists. Unfortunately, unless both players are of the fluff over function mentality it's just an exercise in futility. So in a game where 8 special weapon guard teams and 4 fragcannon deathwatch teams exist regularly I don't see any harm in expanding things. A whole lot will depend on how it works though. I hate commanders most games because it plays like Herohammer. If these are that potentially powerful, I think it could be a bad thing. If it's designed so that most teams get access to one or two more elite models I think that it could go alright. Lictors are basically already an example of an elite model in the game and I don't see being able to run a Terminator, a Bullgryn, or a Possessed as being game breaking. It could actually go a long way to balance things further if (and only if) they do it right. If it's done poorly and people are polarized about playing it then it'll be a huge problem. We already have two optional add-on expansions in Commanders and Arena. Adding on yet another optional plug in could make pick-up games a nightmare.

Also how do people view kilteam to shadow war?

Hmm... I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, I'd love field a Kill Team of Blightlords against, say, my buddy's Space Marine Terminators where things are on a level playing field. I just can't imagine how this can be flawlessly mixed in with the regular rules without completely fragging a normal KT, especially with Custodes present.

It just seems like KT is creeping more and more toward regular 40K. I do understand that GW is selling it as a jump-off point for the big game but that doesn't mean you start tossing in Heavy Troops (yes, that's what Terminators and their ilk are).

Then again, it could lead to some really cool scenarios like Space Hulk-esque missions. I always wanted to play Chaos in Space Hulk, what a good way to do something similar.

I'll hold final judgement until we get more information but currently I'm a bit pensive.

Heralds Of Ruin has had terminators and other heavier unit types for ages, and no drama. Fairly and appropriately costed, far from auto-includes, and generally feels thematic.

I thought terminator armour is specifically designed for close-quarter engagements with small teams, in confined environments where heavier armour isn't appropriate. Rather sounds like Kill Team to me.

Right, sure... except when you factor in a Kill Team of Terminators facing off against Imperial Guard or whatnot. Obviously Terminators fit into the narrative of Kill Team but we're talking about gameplay and mechanics. But like I said, I'll hold final judgement until we receive more information. It could be great (though I'm not sure the inclusion of Custodes will be).
