Mech army idea

Looking at the viability of a mech eldar army. Thinking 3 bright lace serpents with a 9 man dire avenger+ farseer, 10 man DA, and 5 DA/5 Fire Dragons. Further I want 2 Deathspinner tanks, 3 Hornets with pulse lasers, 3 Wasp walkers with either star cannons or Shuricannon, and lastly a squad of Spectres and their pheonix lord. Ill have to narrow the points down a bit I think but thats the initial game plan. Havent decided on a craftworld yet. Currently just seeing if it will work successfully at this point. I havent actually played against eldar this edition.

Mech Eldar can work well given that most of our Grav tanks are pretty decent. I would consider replacing the Fire Dragons with Wraithguard. They are a bit more expensive but are better against T8 targets and are far tougher with 3 T6 wounds each. They can also withdraw from combat and still shoot which is a valuable skill for a short-ranged unit.

 

You might be better off with a Farseer on a jetbike rather than riding in a Serpent. This is because they cannot cast their powers while they are in a vehicle. A jetbike will allow them to keep up with Grav Tanks while still casting their powers. I have an Autarch on Jetbike that regularly does good work since he can buff multiple units at once and he has a decent punch in melee if necessary.

 

I haven't played the FW as it is not popular in my area so I can't comment on their value.

 

Both our aircraft are really good too and well worth a look as they fit thematically.

Kind of a threadomancy but since its mine in the 1st place...

 

Yes, FW is very common in my area and its normal to use them in the tournies I don't play in and in normal pick up games and leagues.

 

Current ideas on the list, been a bit distracted and am currently tired of painting black for my marines.

Still no craftworld idea but the fluff to me is a shadowy, spider influenced realm. They are going to be predominantly painted black and dark red.

Support Weapons x3 Shadow Weavers

 

Jain Zar and her banshees ride in one Serpent(assuming she can ride in one)

Dragons ride in one

Two Avengers ride in 3rd.

 

I might sub out the banshees with warp spiders if they end up getting new rules and/or models but I am not holding my breath.
