Red corsair of Nurgle ?

Would it still be possible in the lore?

After all pop Nurgle does not really ask permissions to bless the ones he likes.

Aren't Khorne and Nurgle the two gods the less likely to hate each other completely?

One want to mutilate and massacre everything the other one rots whats is left of the dismembered victims.

Red Corsairs are similar to the Black Legion when it comes to marked units, they are an undivided warband but they are open to allowing all types into their warband, especially when marked like khorne berzerkers for example have a lot of value as shock troops.

Red coursairs can absolutely take whatever marks they like, and doing so is plenty fluffy.

Back in third edition there were chaos subfactions that by the fluff were purely unaligned, though the coursairs were never one of them. Since then such pure unaligned chaos subfactions have been largely retconned away, though there are still a few vets who cling to the old lore and might grumble at the likes of Alpha Legion berserkers. Again, though, even back then red coursairs were mixed alignment, not pure unaligned, so even throwback players shouldn't give you any grief over it.

Modern "undivided" chaos functions like the Black Legion. Some warbands might have no marks at all, others all marked to the same god, all according to the particular whims of that warband's commandsd. However, most will take whatever marks they like on whatever units they want, a slaaneshi unit here to take advantage of the double shooting stratagem, a nurgle unit and sorcerer there to benefit from the nurgle signature spell, a khornate squad of terminators deep striking in, hoping to use the blood god's icon to pull off the 9" charge.

In contrast, while there arent pure undivided subfactions so much anymore, there are purely aligned subfactions. The world eaters are explicitly khorne only, the emperor's children slaanesh only, though these are special "cult" legions like the death guard and thousand sons, and like those two legions they will probably eventually get their own separate faction releases anyway. Some renegade warbands by the fluff are also purely aligned, though I'm not sure the new rules require duch explicitly. The purge, for instance, is nurgle aligned, and even if the rules allow it, purged units of other marks would be pretty unfluffy. It's worth searching Lexicanum to read up on the history of any established subfaction you're considering starting.

Again, though, red coursairs are not one of those factions. They are, and always have been, one of the 'take what you like' subfactions. That said, cult units (a term that mostly means berzerkers, plague marines, noise marines, and rubric marines), while not necessarily entirely absent, are less commonly in the red coursairs or any post heresy renegade chapter's ranks.

In Blood Reaver (the second part of Aaron Dembski-Bowden's sacred Night Lords trilogy) there is a Red Corsairs aspiring champion who is raised to the level of a Daemon Prince and wreaks havoc for a bit. While not explicitly labelled as marked by Nurgle (or even as a Daemon Prince for that matter) he's pretty clearly Nurgle aligned. I think he's surrounded by a cloud of flies even. So there's definitely precedent in the lore for Nurgle aligned Red Corsairs individuals.

I wouldn't see any issue with a group of like minded Red Corsairs banding together. The same thing is described in the Black Legion.

Could be really interesting to paint too, if you went with old fluff of them just marking out their chapter iconography in red. You could have bits of different color clinging on here and there but unify the look with dirt, rust and filth.

Huron Blackheart has a tendency like Abaddon to give smaller warbands the "submit or die" ultimatum.

Its been stated in several sources that the surviving Astral Claws, bar a few exceptions like Garreon and Valthex, who see themselves as superior to the rest of the Red Corsairs because they were there at the start are actually the severe minority due to attrition and low numbers to start off with. Huron also seems to show no favour towards the Astral Claws survivors and is even indifferent as to who actually wears his colours so long as they obey him. This makes the Red Corsairs a highly unorthodox collection of loyalist-turned-traitors, renegades, legion stragglers and things far worse then the previous three.

Huron also hosts a massive event in the Maelstrom called the Skull Harvest: a battle royale between warbands where the winning champion takes command of all the participants. Although not a traditional "red corsairs force," it demonstrates the flexibility that such a force can offer.
