Good bit for Chaincannons

Nice looking weapons but not very chaos looking to me, greatly prefer the GW one which just looks sweet. That being said considering the cost of getting our hands on the GW one, all third party options are good possibilities.

The left marine there turned out pretty good. What's the best for the weapon, I'm guessing it's the heavy bolter from the havoc set.

That lascannon may work, but doesn't seem like a great fit.

It's a Millitarum multi-laser, but I agree with you - it looks too large.

That said, the helldrake cannon looks great!  I think I'll likely make one like that as well once I get a helldrake.

Those are rotor cannons rather than the chainguns, they will look puny.

I can confirm that the rotor cannons do look rather puny to the chain cannon -

I purchased so from FW before they went out of stock for just this particular conversion however it is going to be back to the drawing board for me. Luckily I am an ex-Blood Angel player so I do have a few assault cannons ;)

I shall be doing something with these and Heavy Bolters. I can just imagine putting those loyalist dogs down in a haze of high calibre, cheese smelling shells :D

I’ve seen one where the daemon head from the vehicle heavy Bolter kit has been glued onto the front of the heavy Bolter in the havoc kit, i thought from the sheer size point of view that it would fine as they are the same length, as long as your opponent would be ok with it, I know I wouldn’t care so long as you weren’t modeling for advantage

@Prot,I think the way to do it would be to work from the heavy bolter using the assault cannon for CSM squads, save the actual chain cannon for the Havocs or chosen IMO. This way you have a more consistent set of conversions. Or just ebay off the chain cannon(s) and convert them all to the same style, while increasing the bits box with that premium ebay price off the chain cannon(s).

I managed to cast 3 barrels to use for converting unlimited heavy Bolters and autocannons into chaincannons with a simple one piece silicone mold, so no mold lines to worry about and they will look like GW parts once painted!

There's this 3d printed bit on ebay, purpose made to convert the new havoc heavy bolters into chaincannons.  Great if you don't have any suitable assault cannon bits lying around, or if you want the end of the barrels to look more like the official chaincannon:

As well as these full 3d printed chaincannons, which are a even closer to the actual model (to the point that they may not be long available, so if you want them grab them up now), apart from having more heavy-bolter style backpacks.  the seller is even offering the 3d print files so you can make your own, if you have a 3d printer of suitable resolution.

3d printed stuff isn't always the best quality in terms of crispness of detail, but if you're not that picky about it, and don't have the conversion experience or spare bits to convert your own, these may be a decent option.  The barrels item comes with two, so if you get one of those and one of the full gun, then you have enough to do a full chaincannon havoc squad.

Coming Soon...

Whoaaa whats this!?!?

I haven't seen much from shapeways stuff in a while is it no allowed here anymore?

Those would be the Chaincannon components I'm working on, produced with my high-res 3D printer Servitor Solus. Soon to be available from my web-shop cast in poly resin.

There nothing wrong with Shapeways stuff as far as I know, beside it needing to compete with all of the other options when someone is looking for conversion bits. You'll find a broad range of bits being used in a broad range of projects here at B&C.
