Hello all,

I was curious what y'all think about this list. I made it to attempt to utilize the old Hammer n Anvil approach from 5th addition, and maintain a more assault-oriented playstyle.

Theoretically, strategems would be utilized to get the big assault strike off on turn 2, as turn 1 doesn't work anymore. I minimized numbers of vehicles to reduce the efficiency of multi-wound vehicles. I can list the strategems if that is helpful, but it's the typical blood angel list to assault off the deepstrike with one unit and bounce up the board to assault with the other.

Lemartes and the inquisitor allow for the death company to assault with rerolled charge rolls and without overwatch. The captain will have the special jetpack to allow for omitting overwatch, and the sanguinary guard will come down with him.

The sanguinary priest will be tasked with keeping the devastators alive and firing. They have missile launchers to allow for horde control / higher toughness targets.

Thoughts?

Ok just a few thoughts:

As far as your captain goes I'd recommend using Artisan of War instead of selfless valour. Having D4 on your Thunder Hammer is simply unbelievable. Don't forget to use Death Visions of Sanguinius on him as well for the extra attack and FNP.

When using Sanguinary Guard, bear in mind the Red Thirst. Encarmine Axes may only be AP-2 instead of AP-3 like the swords, but the +1 strength means they will wound other marines on a 2+. Given that Sanguinary Guards only have 2 attacks (for this reason I normally only take them when pairing with the Sanguinor as he buffs that to 3) you want to maximise the number of saves you're forcing your opponent to make.

I would also go with Blood Talons on the DC Dread instead of Furioso Fists as you have your Furioso to deal with more elite targets and the Blood Talons give rerolls to hit and wound, important with a WS of only 3+. For additional anti-horde utility, remember that you can give the DC Dread two heavy flamers. I frequently use a DC Dread in this configuration and he's been great.

I like the Devastators, nice and versatile. Ditto for the Assault Marines. As far as the MSU Tactical Squads go... while I absolutely and wholeheartedly applaud anyone who stands up for OG Marines in this day and age, given the loadout you've gone for you might want to consider whether Intercessors would do the same job better. Or perhaps give the Tacticals a more punchy loadout, like meltas for instance.

These are just some thoughts for you to take into consideration (or not, it's your list after all!) and I haven't really looked at how it might work with points etc. Please do post any revisions you make.
