Chaos Anti-Super Heavy Options.

Mass shooting with help of VotLW and Endless Cacophony usually. Lascannons and Obliterators mainly. Also recently a Lord with Thunderhammer and the Chainlord build.

If you manage to get the charge a Fist Helbrute can deal some good damage to those as well and potentially kill them if you've softened them beforehand already.

Other than that ... bring your own super heavy in form of Renegade Knights. ^^

Hmm, coming from the FW side of things, the Hellforged Land Raider Proteus and its 6 las cannons can do some damage, as can the Vindicator laser destroyer with its flat 6 overcharge damage on each shot.  Going for the heavier options, the Cerberus with its Malignatas cannon can be ruinous (with its 4+D6 damage stats and AP "HAH!" stat... land Raider in cover gets NOTHING).  Going truly ridiculous is the Falchion and it's anti-titan cannons.  So when legit titans show up, the Falchion isn't the worst choice in the world.

I've dealt the most damage to super heavies with:

-Defilers, Blood Slaughterers, and Maulerfiends (as BolterZorro notes the new Daemonforge detachment means my best knight killers just got better)

-Overcharging plasma squads shooting 5 plasmas using Endless Cacophony, VotLW, and/or prescience (usually Chosen in Rhino)

-Winged Daemon Prince with Daemonic Axe

 

Out of all of these Deffy the Defiler is my best unit vs super heavies.

Hellforged Rapier Batteries are a very low cost weapon that can have some nice punch. Set them up with Conversion Beamers in a corner and keep them protected, and their 'explosion after a kill' special rule lets them switch to heavy/elite infantry units and still have a role on the table.

 

Throw a Kytan at something and it will be cut in half; it's something of a glass cannon but it really is a Super-Heavy killer. Add the Soulforged Pack stratagem/s to it and it's close to unstoppable until it's absolutely dead.

To add to the great ideas above...

 

Hellforged Contemptor. 2 Chainclaws, with a Soulburner in each. Run it Renegade, buff it up with hit bonuses, and it can advance, fill the target full of mortal wounds, and then charge with tons of Damage 4 attacks. Has an outside chance at wrecking a Knight in a single turn (shooting + CC).

 

Also, tons of Smites or ally in a Khorne Daemon Prince with the Skullreaver axe. Optionally, lower its leadership with our various shenanigans and hit it with either Cacophonic Choir or (hilariously) Treason of Tzeentch.

Plus, (someone correct me if I am wrong here) you could take a cheap red corsairs spearhead detatchment of three units of rapiers and get the bonus command points as they have the relevant keyword.

The Chosen with 4 Thunderhammers thing is actually kinda fluffy too. Assault Terminators w/Thunderhammer and Stormshield are often used to engage Titans pointblank in loyalist armies (they even had an Apocalypse formation just for the purpose), so why not a rough equivalent in Chaos armies.....and where in the Warp are OUR Thunderhammer Termies?

Eh not really. Maybe last edition but this edition you barely see any Terminators anymore, much less Assault Terminators.

What gets me is the price hikes on the super heavy tanks, while all knights are either points efficient or undercosted. What was so bad with the initial points of things like the fellblade and falchion etc at the initial points? Its like they deliberately over price them points wise to keep them out of the normal game like the warhound titan. If its a knight- this is fine to be here! :rolleyes:

Forge World rules writers and GW rules writers occupy different galaxies. The fact that they haven't been changed back is even more frustrating, now that GW (supposedly) took the reins from them for rules.

I think it was GW that changed the points themselves in CA2017. I remember at the time someone asked a FW team member about why they increased the points so much and they said they had nothing to do with it.

 

Can't have those players who spent 2-3x + more, took twice as long to assemble model beat in game the way cheaper ($$ and pts) plastic model from GW I guess. :rolleyes:
